▪ Verification and validation of the PMAp product (own analysis and support of external studies)

▪ Review of existing aerosol algorithms to evaluate their applicability to different satellite missions

The major task was the development of the HICRU algorithm to retrieve cloud fraction, cloud height and surface reflectance from SCIAMACHY (ENVISAT) and GOME (ERS-2).

Specific tasks were:

▪ Application of radiative transfer models to satellite data in the solar spectral range

▪ Retrieval of oxygen, oxygen dimer and water vapour from satellites using Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS)

▪ Validation and verification of operational and scientific cloud data products

▪ Satellite-crossradiometric calibration of SCIAMACHY Level-1 data and quantification of degradation effects

▪ Participation in scientific projects for the retrieval of atmospheric trace gases from satellite (in particular EVERGREEN)

▪ Oral and poster presentations at international conferences and project meetings

▪ Scientific reviews for the journal "Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics"

▪ Support for the IT infrastructure and software of the satellite remote sensing team

▪ Teaching experience: Tutor at the University of Heidelberg (physics introductory courses, physics introductory lab)
