Proposal Preparation /    GEORing
Future Studies                       Facilitated proposal through the following efforts:
* Wrote proposal to prime contractor to ESA for Operations and DB Support of an interplanetary mission with multiple planetary flybys to achieve orbit around target.  Proposal included technical feasibilities, risk analysis, and financial projections.
* Wrote proposal “Techniques to improve spacecraft monitoring based on onboard visual systems” with intention of winning for GEO-Ring the contract with the European Space Agency.

RKM GmbH/Astrium GmbH/ESA
* Provided spacecraft platform expertise to ESA study on the feasibility of creating a Space Weather Constellation of instruments to be launched on planned missions from inside and outside ESA.  
* Developed list of potential spacecraft from around the world based on instrument requirement analysis and the spacecraft technical specifications, contacted the relevant organization, and resolved technical issues between the spacecraft platform and the instrument.  Matched instrument budgets to host spacecraft margins. Held technical discussions with S/C manufacturer, then provided trade-off study to ESA.  Produced study technical documentation to ESA. Provided ESA with a standardized procedure for this process.

Supervisor /        Hubble Space Telescope (HST) - Bendix Field Engineering/NASA
Team Management    Team Leader responsible for all off-line products to be uplinked to HST.

Spacecraft Operations    Galileo - Science Systems Deutschland GmbH
Engineer / Systems        Responsible for all issues with on-orbit Galileo (Astrium) spacecraft concerning the Attitude and
Engineer    Orbit Control, Electrical Power, and Thermal subsystems.  Also, was responsible for subsystems during the pre-launch phase for the (OHB) spacecraft.  Duties included, but were not limited to:
* Launch and early operations of L2 S/C, including manoeuvres.
* Procedure preparation
* Anomaly investigation and reporting to ESA
* On-call support to Flight Control Team
* Special operations, such as Safemode recovery, gyro calibration
* Simulations to verify proper procedure and S/C execution
* Ground-S/C tests with OHB S/C (AIT)
* Test Plan preparation for Ground-S/C Test
* Performance trending and analysis

GOES-15 - Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies/NASA/NOAA
Prepared for the launch of a geosynchronous environmental monitoring spacecraft.  Supported Ground-Spacecraft Test (AIT). Worked as part of team that developed all of the products (command scripts, contingency procedures, etc.) required to support the launch, 6 month on-orbit check out period and subsequent operational handover to the customer. ITAR Certified. Principal Subsystem Engineer for: 
* Electrical Power Subsystem
* Thermal Subsystem
* Communication Subsystem
* Telemetry and Command Subsystem

Earth Resource Satellites (ERS-1, ERS-2) - VEGA GmbH / ESA
Performed routine maintenance of all subsystems on spacecraft bus. Consulted ESA staff of new requirements. Advisor to ESA staff on failures in hardware or degradation of performance. Represented ESOC when meeting with spacecraft manufacturer and other agencies to discuss spacecraft performance, design, and contingencies. Updated and maintained ERS flight simulator with each flight software or hardware change. 
* Worked with Flight Dynamics Department to predict ageing of on-board gyroscopes and hydrazine supply.  
* Tested, corrected, and uplinked Mono-Gyro Attitude Control Software.
* Tested, corrected, and uplinked the first Gyroless Attitude Control Software ever to control a LEO 3-axis satellite.
* Presented the first Gyroless Maneuver Mode feasibility study to ESA/Astrium Engineering Review Board (ECSS Standards).
* Independently verified and validated safe procedure for uplink of Zero-Gyro Maneuver Mode.
* Considered team expert with AOCS, EPS, Thermal, DHSS, and Communication subsystems.
* Reviewed and accepted or rejected Design Change Notices (DCN) for all spacecraft bus subsystems during 0-Gyro Attitude Control Software acceptance testing.
* Through simulation and on orbit experience, determined tension load to be added to rotating Solar Array to minimize oscillation during Zero-Gyro Mode attitude control, thus reducing yaw deviation that it induced and allowing science data collection.
Landsat-7 - Allied Signal Technical Services/NASA/NOAA
Flight Operations Team Lead Engineer for the Attitude Control, Propulsion, Electrical Power (28V), and Thermal Subsystems. 
* Performed flight software validation and verification with Lockheed-Martin during Integration and Test phase (AIT) of spacecraft development, as well as Sine Vibration and Thermal Vacuum testing. 
* Worked with Preliminary Design Review (PDR) for L-7 ground system.
* Tested OBC for launch sequence through separation from Delta 2 and deployable functional verification with NASA and contractor personnel, verifying safety, reliability, and survivability of subsystems and payload during launch. 
* Determined safest configuration and power-up timing of on-board components.  
* Verified deployables such as HGA and the very large Solar Array would extend after launch stress by post sine vibration test cleanroom deployment.  
* Identified key issues with software non-conformance for NASA management.  Reviewed Interface Control Documents to assure accuracy.
* Reviewed Contingency Plans and wrote contingency procedures for launch and early orbit subsystem failures.
* Worked on console to support launch operations and early orbit calibration/check-out. 
* Wrote software for ground system to safely operate the above subsystems and trained Spacecraft Controllers in operation of these subsystems. 
* Reviewed, updated Operations Control Documentation (OCD).
* Participated in feasibility study of adding second instrument at late stage of L-7 development, its operations impact on Electric Power Subsystem, Ground Operations, and Planning.
* Evaluated attitude control subsystem equipment operational function, limitations, and possible failures and contingency operations, and established anomaly recovery procedures for post-launch operations. 
* Helped develop requirements for, simulated function of electrical power and AOCS subsystems.  
* Interfaced with parts suppliers when performance or safety concerns in these subsystems arose.
* Identified ground testing issues and recommended solutions.
* Developed software simulator with two other teammates to assure accurate subsystem modeling and failure mode transitions.  
* Simulator modeled all bus engineering functions, including power generation and storage through day/night cycles, ground station contacts, attitude and orbit adjustments, appendage occultations, thermal cycles, failure and recovery modes.
* Identified risks to mission success based on second stage burn failure, reignition failure.

* Volunteered to help Lewis Flight Ops Team attempt recovery of disabled spacecraft.

Flight Ops Team Lead Engineer for Electrical Power Subsystem, backup engineer for Attitude Control Subsystem.
* Supported Thermal Vacuum and Spacecraft-Ground testing (AIT)
* Worked with Preliminary Design Review (PDR) for SOHO ground system.
* Wrote and coded contingency procedure to add torque to Solar Arrays with S/C rotation and thruster burns in event of failed SA deployment.
* On console during launch, early orbit check-out, and operational phase. 
* Wrote software for ground system to safely operate Electrical Power and Attitude Control subsystems.
* Interacted with ESA/NASA to perfect testing and operational procedures. 
* Documented all anomalies and concerns with EPS and AOCS operations, developed workarounds.
