    Development of an innovative method for metal-ceramic nanocomposites designing (noble metals nanoparticles embedded into dielectric matrix) by ion beam sputtering.

    Designing nanoparticles linear chains by self-organization onto nanostructured amorphous dielectric thin films (ripples shape nanostructures).

    Development, understanding and optimisation of the amorphous dielectric thin films nanostructuration process by ion-beam sputtering.

    Nanostructures morphology characterization :

    Characterization by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM),

    Characterization by Grazing-Incidence Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering (GISAXS), performed at the ESRF (Grenoble, France), and at SOLEIL (Paris, France).

    Identified the physical mechanisms implied in the amorphous dielectric thin films nanostructuration process by confrontation between experimental results and theoretical models, supported by computer simulation (numerical integration of existing theoretical model equations using MATLAB).

    Development, understanding and optimisation of the structural and optical properties of the self-organized nanoparticles onto nanostructured dielectric thin films using ion beam sputtering.

    Structural properties characterization of the embedded nanoparticles into dielectric matrix by Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy in High-Angle Annular Dark-Field imaging mode.

    Characterization of the optical properties by spectrophotometry.

    Simulation of the optical properties using Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method.

    Successfully apply the optical properties of the developed nanocomposites (high density of « hot spots ») as Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy experiments substrates.
