    PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) is a medium-class astronomical science mission belonging to ESAs Cosmic Vision Programme, which is dedicated to the detection and characterisation of terrestrial exoplanets. For this purpose, PLATO will be placed in an orbit around the L2 Lagrange point of the Sun-Earth system. By performing long uninterrupted high precision observations of large samples of stars, the planetary transits can be detected and characterised by measuring and analysing the light curves of the stars. 

    Heinrich Hertz Programme (DLR/German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology) – (M.Tragni is the the OBDH S/S & EPS S/S Procurement Manager)
    H2SAT mission aims to explore and test new communications technologies in space at a technical and scientific level in order to determine how broadband communications, for example, can result in high data rates for mobile final users. As well as this, the mission will offer universities, research institutes and industry a platform for conducting numerous scientific/technical experiments. The selection of the new German satellite SGEO will simultaneously support the goal systematically being pursued by ESA and Germany in the ARTES 11 program of building up system skills in this area in Europe and extending German capabilities in the area of satellites and telecommunications payloads.

    ELECTRA Programme (SES/ESA) – (M.Tragni is the the OBDH S/S & EPS S/S Procurement Manager)
    Advanced electrically powered telecommunications satellite in the sub-three-ton weight class. Such a system has previously not been available commercially in Europe. Electra is a public-private partnership under the ESA ARTES 33 program serving the purpose of providing the satellite communications industry with innovative products and systems. The project initially entails the platform development which in a further step is to lead to a joint mission with industrial project partner SES. As one of the world’s largest satellite operators, this company has a keen interest in encouraging competition in the selection of launch vehicles in order to achieve additional savings.

    SARah Programme (Federal Ministry of Defence) – (M.Tragni was the OBDH S/S Procurement Manager)
    The extension of the SAR-Lupe operations to the commissioning of the successor system SARah prevents a capability gap. OHB System AG has been working on the development and implementation of the SAR-Lupe successor system, SARah, since mid-2013. This order includes two reflector satellites and ground system elements as well as two ground stations. Airbus Defence and Space is supplying a subcontracted phased array satellite. The customer is the Federal Ministry of Defence through BAAINBw (Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr).

    ExoMars 2022 (ESA/Russian Space Institute) – (M.Tragni was the Remote Terminal Unit Procurement Manager)
    The ExoMars mission foresees Rosalind Franklin the rover and its surface platform Kazachok landing on the Red Planet in 2021. The rover will move across many types of terrain, collect samples with a 2 m-long drill and analyse them with instruments in its onboard laboratory.

    It is the latest ASI fully funded (100 M€) programme aimed to develop the new Italian Space small multipurpose platform (around 200 kg of wet mass). The programme funds the full qualification of the platform by development and final launchoperations of 2 satellitesmission.. SITAEL is the prime contractor of consortium of other 3 major large Italian companies.

    µHETsat Programme (ESA) - (M.Tragni was the bid Manager and actually the GS Technical Manager)
    It represents one of the first applications of a Hall Effect based, low power electric thruster (so-called HET), on-board a microsatellite platform (µsat). The flight segment of this mission is based on the SITAEL low cost S-50/S-75 micro-platform that has been adapted to carry out the in orbit validation of the SITAEL HT-100 low power thruster system which represents also the µHETsat payload.

The final qualification includes the exploitation of result directly on the market. Take-Off projects is focused on airport infrastructures while EOSS on urban, rural and coastal areas.

    SolarOrbiter-DPU (ASI-MSSL-ESA)

    This project is part of ESA Solar Orbiter mission (in the framework of the Cosmic Vision). The project aims to provide the Data Processing Unit (DPU) for the SWA (Solar Wind Analyzer) instrument suite. This suite is intended to the study of plasma composing solar wind. Company’s activities will be specifically focused on:

    implementing on board scientific SW (intended to evaluation of the distribution of instruments collected particles and to scientific data compression)

    implementing the EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) SW layer.

    SpacePDP (ASI)

    It is a co-funded project aimed to Research and Development of Hardware components and Software modules for an open and modular Payload Data Processing system Prototyping of an advanced on board processing system to use on satellite platforms or on rovers for planets exploration. The system includes HW components based on RISC standard technology and SW components (SDK) for the fast prototyping/development of processing specific applications. Planetek Italia is the prime contractor and it is responsible for planning and implementation of SW architecture and SW modules.


    SHIRA (Apulia Government)

    It is an phase 0/A/B1 Mission study aimed to: define the technical and economical mission feasibility and sustainability study of a Thermal Infrared HR Satellite, define its Mission elements (orbit and space segment, launch segment, GS, communication and control, etc). Study and simulation of the thermal infrared sensor for medium and high resolution, assess the Mission Control Segment and analyses the User Segment (Ground Segment), design a Data Fusion Centre (DFC), analysis of user services needs to define economical and technical sustainable solutions, design, trade-off analysis and development of prototypal algorithms for data fusion (looking for strong synergy with: Universities and Research Centres), prototypal product and service validation with support of public and private operators in the Environmental and Civil Protection sectors. Planetek has the responsibility of the Mission Planning Centre, of the TIR sensor calibration methodologies and of the whole Data Fusion Centre. It is responsible of new application fields by using multi-mission and multi-sensor data from space borne, airborne and in-situ instruments.


    Space mission that put in orbit a new satellite for EO with a hyperspectral sensor payload. In this project the company is involved in the development of processor in GS with main task of data reformatting and orthorettification of hyper cube data.

    International project to develop an high performance system to acquire photo (vertical and oblique) by airborne cameras on main cities of the world. The company is involved in the design and develop the high computing cluster for the ground processing and distribution of the data.

    PROC Web Portal (ASI-ESA-NASA)

    The Planetary Radar Operation Center (PROC) unifies the access to the three Thales Alenia Space Italia Radar operational centers SHOC (Sharad-MRO), MOC (Marsis-MarsExpress) and C-PAD (Cassini). Planetek Italia s.r.l. implements the web portal for the divulgation of such data and the Data Manager for the processing, archiving and cataloguing od such data. By the web portal and the application SpaceGIS the web users could view on-line and interactively all the cartographic and radar data of Mars and Titan (a moon of Saturn)

    CosMosaic (ASI-Telespazio)

    The objective of the project, which is a part of the Cosmo-SkyMed Program, is to develop a processor generating “Higher-level Mosaic Products” by the assembling of SAR images or DEM into a common grid, in order to generate a large scale map. The main task is to compose different images with some regions of overlap. In fact the information along the borders, where there is the switch single/multi image, must be preserved, while in the overlapping regions the information coming from the single images must be combined in a weighted manner.

    COSMO-PE (ASI-Telespazio)

    Definition and implementation of the PE (Performance Estimator) component, for the planning of the satellite acquisitions inside the CosmoSKY-MED framework. By this component all the satellite settings (PRF, Chirp duration, swath width, sample windows start time, etc.) to be performed on the satellite, are evaluated according to the performance parameters (range resolution, sample window length, data rate, receiver duty cycle, etc.) needed for each single acquisition. It is composed by an automatic setting tool and a manual setting tool (provided of its MMI component) technological solution able to provide high spatial resolution SAR data.

    MiniSAR (Technapoli-CIRA)

    The MiniSAR project - "Three-dimensional observation systems in any weather condition for risk management and territory defence" financed by MURST to the Technapoli and CORISTA consortiums, it has the aim to adopt advanced technological solution able to provide high spatial resolution SAR data.

For example, a Gold subscription will give you unlimited jobs posting and unlimited CV database access for one year at just over €250 per month!

    3 months - Bronze 1150 euros convert
    6 months - Silver 1950 euros convert
    12 months - Gold 3200 euros convert

Users who enter inaccurate or incomplete information will not gain access to post jobs or search resumes. Sharing of login details with a third party will result in the suspension of the recruiter's account with no subscription refund.

    To ensure you are approved, please include the following on your application:
