Mechanical Design Engineer - Airborne Electronic Hardware

Your role and your team:
You will report directly to the AEH (Propulsion and Flight Controls - PFC) Lead. The PFC Team is responsible for designing and developing the electronic components (control units) of our propulsion unit across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer for the control units, you will be part of an interdisciplinary IPT (Integrated Project Team) responsible for all mechanical aspects of the control units. This includes, but not limited to housing design, PCB board integration into the housing, attachment/integration of those units into the propulsion unit.
From mechanical parts or electrical integration design to mechanical systems development you will play a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.
Your Day to Day:
- Develop and design aerospace control unit parts and assemblies throughout their lifecycle
- Create complex 3D parts and assemblies in CAD (Siemens NX)
- Design approval of 2D technical drawings appropriate for production and certification
- Good working knowledge of GD&T
- Consult with engineers of other disciplines, for example Manufacturing, Procurement, etc.
- Consult with Suppliers and support DFM sessions
- Create supporting documentation for certification
- Prepare and present material in design reviews
Your Profile:
- University degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (MSc/M.Eng preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
- Proven record of successfully progressing designs through a gated process
- Experience in working with the integration of electronic components and their thermal behaviour is required
- Understanding of Electro-Magnetics, EMC design aspects, thermal management of electronics components and position sensing as well as ESD and handling of sensitive electronics components.
- Experience in performing design compatibility/validation, using CAD & FEA for Thermal and Structural Analysis.
- Experience in managing and agreeing interfaces.
- Experience in the validation and verification of designs is beneficial.
- Knowledge of PDM/PLM systems is required. Experience in Teamcenter and NX is beneficial
- Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
