Reporting to the Operations Coordination Team Leader, within the System Operations Team, the Operations Training Officer (OTO) plans, manages, implements and evaluates comprehensive training programmes for teams involved in the operations of current satellite systems (MSG, EPS, Sentinel-3, Sentinel-6 and Jason-3). The OTO is also responsible for the training to prepare the operations of next generation systems (such as EPS-SG, MTG andCO2M), including tailoring to the learning needs of individual team members.

What you’ll be doing

  • Establish and maintain a departmental training plan addressing training of the operations team members are skilful and knowledgeable about operating current satellite systems and prepared for operating next generation satellite systems;
  • Establish detailed programme specific training plans for each of the operational and future missions, including addressing evolutions to existing programmes and systems;
  • Maintain training requirements specific to each team member and records of training results in a database;
  • Develop individual training plans and associated material for team members involved in the operations of next generation systems and coordinate their implementation to ensure their operations readiness;
  • Plan and manage the execution of training activities, including identification of, and coordination with, internal and external providers of training, all necessary arrangements and evaluation of training;
  • Define, prepare and support delivery of training for new Satellite Controller team members aimed at their certification, and proficiency training for existing Controller team members;
  • Coordinate with operations team leaders, divisional management and quality assurance to identify areas, for example observed human errors, where additional training is required;
  • Ensure all training materials are organised, structured and maintained up to date through regular reviews;
  • Coordinate the operations training team resources;
  • Define and maintain training status KPIs.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience;
  • A training related qualification would be an advantage.

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of satellite systems, in particular satellite control systems and mission ground segments, as well as their operations;
  • Proven experience in the planning, management, preparation, and implementation of technical training activities, including preparation of training materials and delivery of training;
  • Solid understanding of various training tools and techniques, including remote training and computer based training;
  • Experience of creating e-learning content;
  • Excellent technical and personnel coordination skills;
  • Excellent communications skills under a variety of circumstances and with different media;
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy;
  • Good analytical skills.

Languages:

  • Candidates must be able to work effectively in English.
