OHB LuxSpace is looking for motivated candidates to join for an exciting opportunity as: Spacecraft Controller/Flight Dynamics - Orbit and Attitude Analysis (m/f/o).

Being member of a dedicated multinational project team for satellite mission services, the incumbent(s) will contribute to the successful performance of the mission operations centre in aspects of flight operations and ground segment.

The position(s) are expected to cover operations preparation and validation, pre-launch, launch and post-launch activities.

The Spacecraft Controller will be in charge of coordinating all the routine activities performed in view of satellite operations and responsible for the correct execution of all the nominal and first level contingency procedures. Responsibilities comprise furthermore all flight dynamics activities performed during operations execution, and the orbit and attitude analysis and operations aspects including procedures.

Typical tasks to be performed:

  • Participation to installations, operations preparation and validation;
  • Participation in commissioning and routine phases;
  • Participation to trainings;
  • Contribution and active participation to system validation test, system operation validation and S&R;
  • Anomalies reporting;
  • Corrective and emergency operations as per applicable processes and procedures;
  • Interfacing and collaborating with other roles as required;
  • Flight operations procedures coding and validation;
  • In particular interfacing with Spacecraft Platform and Payload Engineers;
  • Telecommand sequences generation;
  • RT telemetry monitoring, commands, and execution of nominal procedures;
  • Response to faults and alarms, running routine automated procedures;
  • Verification of correct execution of pass plans;
  • SAT DB and FOP management and configuration control;
  • Coding, validation and configuration maintenance of FOP and GOP;
  • Performance analysis data collection;
  • Orbit determination and propagation;
  • Collision avoidance activities;
  • Orbit and attitude manoeuvre estimation and planning;
  • Orbit products analysis and computation;
  • FDS sub-system configuration;
  • Orbit acquisition and orbit control;
  • AOCS commands generation and system health monitoring;
  • Guidance generation;
  • Auxiliary products generation;
  • Test validation;
  • Contribute to HW/SW/NET maintenance of FDS environment;
  • Ground operation procedures and documentation writing, editing and control;
  • Other tasks and duties assigned by manager(s);
  • Temporarily or permanently performing other reasonable and equivalent duties.

Qualifications

Skills and Background:

  • Knowledge of satellite subsystems;
  • Working knowledge of flight operation and contingency procedures;
  • Working experience in operation activities management;
  • Working knowledge in system activities supervision;
  • Working knowledge and supervision of flight dynamics subsystem area;
  • Working knowledge of orbit control and related ground operations activities and procedures;
  • Working knowledge of AOCS and propulsion satellite subsystems.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Engineering or technical discipline degree (Bachelor/Master/Diploma), or equivalent vocational education plus relevant proven work experience;
  • Entry junior level, up to 3+ years of work experience in the field of space systems operations in a relevant professional environment;
  • Experience in the area of attitude and orbit analysis;
  • Experience in the field of orbit control and computation for space systems;
  • Willingness to learn new tools and systems;
  • Excellent sense of responsibility and confidentiality;
  • Structured hands-on work-approach;
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Customer oriented thinking-approach;
  • Positive spirit to work and interface with a multinational team;
  • Willingness to work flexible in line with project needs and schedules;
  • Readiness to work in a 24-hours/7 days environment, and to perform duty in a rotating shift scheme, as per business needs;
  • Willingness to travel for business from time to time;
  • Languages: Good English language skills (spoken and written), German and/or French knowledge considered an asset;
  • In line with applicable (immigration) legislation, all candidates must have an EU and NATO membership country citizenship, and possess all applicable work and residence permissions for Luxembourg. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from the applicants as part of the recruitment process;
