Job Description

Exotrail is looking for a Satellite System Architect for its space transportation vehicle on LEO orbit. The main role of this person will be to manage the development of the vehicle used to provide in-orbit transportation services.

To do so, both technical and project management skills are required as all members of the team will need to be hands-on.

The current team is composed of several engineers working on different missions of the spacedrop™: LEO, GEO and Rendez-vous. Your role will be to lead the systems engineering team working on the evolutions of the platform developed for the LEO mission. It requires a high-level knowledge of the architecture of a satellite, a true spirit of innovation and good skills for team work.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Animate and participate in the design of the LEO spacedrop™ platform;
  • Manage and perform the system engineering tasks of the project, and manage the system team;
  • Follow the development of the spacecraft from inception to the launch;
  • Manage subcontractors who provide technical support or equipment.

You will work directly with the system team manager and the Project Manager of the LEO In-Orbit Services team.

The position is opened in both Exotrail's offices in Massy or Toulouse.

Preferred Experience

Exotrail is looking for a satellite architect with hands-on experience on all the phases of a space project.

Typically, the candidate:

  • Must have already worked and/or led a system team on electrical satellites projects in the development, assembly, tests and operations of the satellite;
  • Shall have already worked on LEO satellites performing an electrical orbit raising and station keeping;
  • Shall have seen several phases of the project (design, assembly, test, operations);
  • Shall have an experience as a system architect;
  • Knows how to manage technical requirements and write technical documentation;
  • Has already managed a technical team.

A minimum experience of 7 years in a relevant position is required for this role. Ideally, the candidate has 10 years or more of experience, has the capability to take the technical lead of a team already in place and to define the development plan independently.

  • Interest in highly technical work;
  • Good project management skills;
  • Pragmatism, risk-taking and accountable;
  • Good communication skills with fluent English;
  • Willingness to join the dynamic, vibrant, demanding environment of a start-up.
