(Senior) Manager, IRIS2 Ground Segment Tech Lead

ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Ground Segment Tech Lead to oversee our IRIS2 ground segment systems engineering activities and to maintain the associated system coherency.
In this role, you will be interacting with the EU, ESA, and project partners on ground segment systems engineering matters, ensuring that we meet our contractual obligations, implement SES’ commercial vision, and protect SES’ interests.
In this role, you will be involved in leading the design, development, and deployment of IRIS2 ground segment, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with organizational goals.
You will work in an agile project organization where a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset is required.
As a Senior Ground Segment Tech Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Lead technical Ground Segment System Architecture matters in IRIS2 and associated commercial programmes;
- Coordinate the work of SES technical teams working on ground segment subsystem, including:
- 5G Core network;
- OSS/BSS;
- Mission Control Subsystem and Satellite Control Subsystem;
- Data and TT&C Gateway infrastructure.
- Lead ground segment development plan, deployment, validation and progressive upscaling;
- Lead production by the team of all technical deliverables for IRIS2 Ground Segment;
- Lead interaction with industrial partners required for the development of the ground segment (including RFIs/RFPs as appropriate);
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements;
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to meet milestones and deliverables;
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define ground segment requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
YOUR PROFILE
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Electrical Engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
- Strong experience in ground segment engineering, in particular for network and IT infrastructure;
- Strong understanding of 5G technologies including 5G Core, OSS/BSS and orchestration;
- Strong experience in satellite ground segment operations and network management;
- Good understanding of NGSO constellations;
- Experience in evaluating CAPEX and OPEX;
- In-depth knowledge of satellite communication systems with an end to end view;
- Strong ability to work independently and without supervision in complex environments, e.g. project or matrix organizations;
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing project requirements and environments;
- Ability to think strategically and align project goals with organizational objectives;
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, proactive and assertive worker;
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Strong and proven leadership and team management skills;
- Excellent analytical skills, solid knowledge and sound judgement to advise on complex decisions with significant contribution to business success;
- Ability to translate customer/business requirements into technical design specifications by using a customer service-centric approach;

NICE TO HAVE:
- Familiarity with hardware and software development and in end to end systems integration
REQUIREMENTS
- Eligibility for ESA/EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such a clearance;
- Willing to work at least 66% onsite from office;
- Travel as required for project realization purposes.
