As a Business Development Area Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of the BD team, including tasks definition and supervision of the proposal’s preparation, review and submission and make sure the proposed solutions are in line with company roadmap and market requests.
The candidate will report directly to VP Programs and Business Development. This position requires planning and organizational skills, as well as leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- BD Team Management: Coordinate and supervise the activities of the Business Development team, including task assignments to team members, ensuring strategies and objectives align with corporate priorities;
- Implementation of business strategies to expand the company's presence in the space sector;
- Coordination of commercial activities: Ensure efficient execution of client acquisition, relationship management, and participation in conferences without being directly involved in proposal writing;
- Leadership and Coaching: Provide leadership, support, and mentoring to team members, fostering their skill development and promoting a culture of high performance and collaboration;
- Manage relationships with strategic clients and key partners in collaboration with VP;
- Reporting and Performance Analysis: Monitor the results of business development activities based on specific KPIs, providing periodic reports to the executive team and identifying areas for improvement;
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other business functions to support overall company growth and success;
- Costing/Pricing Preparation: Collaborate with VP to prepare costing proposals and ensure their approval.
Requirements
- Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably in the space or aerospace sector;
- Proven experience in team management;
- Extensive network and established relationships within the space industry;
- Strong understanding of nano-satellite technologies and their applications;
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills;
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus;
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, industry events, and conferences;
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with institutional customers such as ESA and National space agencies;
- Knowledge of international space regulations and policies;
- Familiarity with government contracting processes;
- Experience in proposal writing and bid management;
- Understanding of technical aspects of satellite systems and space missions.
