To support our Company’s growth, we are looking for a motivated R&D Hardware Design Engineer to expand a rapidly growing team within our Research and Development Unit. Reporting directly to the Lead of the R&D Avionics team, he/she will work on inspirational projects, contributing to the development of new products and technologies in support of next generation space assets.

The focus will be on designing and developing hardware for On-Board Computers, Power Systems, and Telecommunication solutions, intended for both Earth's orbit and deep-space missions, including the Moon and Mars.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As an R&D Hardware Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design and prototyping of electronic systems for space applications.

The activities will include (but not limited to):

  • Definition of board-level hardware architecture;
  • Preliminary validation by means of electrical analysis and simulations (SPICE, SI/PI, EMC, voltage/current/temperature/power derating etc.);
  • EEE parts selection for space applications;
  • Design of the electrical schematics and PCB layout;
  • Definition and execution of tests activity, including drafting of test plan/procedures and preparation of support equipment;
  • Support to PCB manufacturing and in-house assembly.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • At least 2 years of working experience;
  • Proven ability to work in a team on complex projects;
  • Team player and a “Do what it takes” attitude;
  • Great problem-solving skills;
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of analog electronics;
  • Very good knowledge of DC/DC converters;
  • Very good knowledge of complex PCB layout design (ideally more than 6 layers);
  • Very good knowledge of digital electronics;
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer;
  • Extensive knowledge of laboratory instruments;
  • At least 2 complex PCBs successfully delivered to customers.

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

  • Previous experience in space projects compliant to ECSS/MIL;
  • Knowledge of RF electronic devices;
  • Experience in EMC qualification;
  • Previous experience in design of space hardware;
  • Experience in Agile development approach.
