We are seeking a valves and feedlines engineer to join our Propulsion team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role for the creation, development, analysis and improvement of the feedline systems of our final vehicle. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our propulsion systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in propulsion system design, with a strong emphasis on feedline and fluid component design and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and propulsion systems.
  • Advanced skills in MATLAB environment, or equivalent.
  • Experience with CAD software and design tools (Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in technical English, both written and spoken.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop feedline systems (e.g., pipelines, insulations, etc.) and related fluidic components (e.g., valves, fluidic connectors, etc.) for propulsion systems. Knowledge in make or buy decisions.
  • Conduct detailed analyses and simulations to ensure the performance and reliability of feedlines and fluidic components.
  • Perform mass optimization analysis and development of fluidic components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate feedline designs with overall propulsion systems, other departments design and testing activities.
  • Develop Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to schematize feedline and fluid component designs as well as CAD of the system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to feedline performance, especially for cryogenics.
  • Define test campaign requirements to assess performance and reliability of the fluidic system.
  • Document design processes and analysis results comprehensively.
  • Procurement and follow up activities for COTS coming from suppliers.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ground testing facility operations and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in CFD, predominantly OpenFOAM and Ansys Fluent.
  • Experience with fluidic system simulation software (EcosimPro, Simscape, AxSTREAM System Simulation, or similar).
  • Experience with fluidic systems, valves, lines, solenoids and BSPP & NPT connections threads.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic propellants and their handling.
  • Experience with pressure-fed and pump-fed propulsion systems.
