Wireless communication is at the heart of our autonomous systems, and we are looking for experts who can push the limits of radio technology in complex, real-world environments. As a Senior Radio Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the Radio team. This team is composed of 4 engineers and innovators passionate about developing solutions that matters.
In this role, you will work closely with systems engineers and software developers to enable robust, long-range, and secure communication links for our UAV platforms and hereby support Quantum Systems in its mission to become the benchmark for aerial intelligence.
What is your Day to Day Mission:
- Design and develop radio communication systems for drones using existing Radio solutions or Software Defined Radio platforms
- Evaluate, select, and integrate various radio technologies including LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, LoRa, UHF/VHF, and proprietary RF solutions
- Develop and optimize waveform designs, modulation schemes, and channel access protocols
- Work on link budget analysis, antenna integration, and RF front-end design in collaboration with hardware teams
- Implement and test SDR-based communication solutions in lab and field environments
- Analyze radio performance data and troubleshoot issues in dynamic flight scenarios
- Ensure compliance with relevant radio communication standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ETSI, FCC)
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and participate in cross-functional design reviews
What you bring to the team:
- Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in radio system development, including SDR platforms (e.g., USRP, Ettus, LimeSDR)
- Strong knowledge of wireless communication protocols, digital signal processing, and RF systems
- Proficient in tools and languages such as GNU Radio, MATLAB, Python, or C++Experience with simulation, debugging, and testing of communication systems in real-time environments
- Familiarity with antenna design, propagation modeling, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
as a plus:
- Experience with UAV or aerospace communication systems
- Knowledge of secure communication protocols and encryption standards
- Background in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or embedded radio systems
