Northumbria University (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) is advertising its “Vice-Chancellor's Fellowship” scheme. This is a permanent/tenured/proleptic Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor appointment, that starts with a three-year Fellowship period during which you will have a research-focussed workload which will ensure no formal scheduled teaching in Year 1; 50% of typical teaching workload in one semester in Year 2; and 50% of typical teaching workload across full year in Year 3.
The Vice-Chancellor's Fellowship aims to appoint exceptional academics to permanent appointments within the University’s areas of research excellence, which includes all areas of Space-related research, such as Satellite Engineering or Satellite Communications. These appointments are being made at every level and so we welcome applications for Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in any of the areas listed under the vacancy.
There are multiple appointments available depending on the quality of the applicants.
In addition, Northumbria is creating a world-leading £50 million space skills research and technology centre in the North East of England after major funding awards were confirmed from the UK Space Agency and global aerospace giant, Lockheed Martin. This £50 million project is leading to the development of the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre, to be known as NESST. Located in the heart of Northumbria University’s Newcastle city campus, NESST will be a new national space asset that brings together industry and academia to collaborate on internationally significant space research and technological developments. NESST will drive advancements in satellite technologies, communications, high-performance electronics, and space-based energy, while also providing essential training for the UK’s space sector workforce.
