Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Senior Director of User Terminal Engineering and Development to join our team and play a critical role in developing and bringing to life User Terminals for our constellation of LEO and GEO satellites. In this position, you’ll work closely with product managers, systems engineers, software developers, regulatory, system test and integration engineers, and other stakeholders, contributing directly to our ongoing projects and initiatives. Who You Are
You are a strategic and technically adept leader with extensive experience in full life-cycle development of user terminals or related electronic products across. With a proven track record in managing complex programs, you specialize in leading cross-functional initiatives from concept through deployment - spanning hardware development, software development, and systems integration. You bring deep domain expertise in mobility and fixed verticals, including land transport, aero, maritime, and enterprise connectivity, ensuring solutions are optimized for dynamic use cases and operational environments.
Your leadership extends across both internal hardware and software development teams and external integrators, where you drive execution, performance, and alignment with product and business strategy. Known for bridging technical vision with market needs, you play a critical role in defining terminal architecture, scalability, integration, and industrialization pathways that enable global, resilient connectivity. You thrive in fast-paced environments and bring the insight and discipline required to scale innovative satellite terminal solutions across diverse markets and mission profiles.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end development of advanced satellite user terminals for LEO and GEO constellations, integrating semiconductors, software, RF, and antenna technologies into production-ready systems;
- Work with key stakeholders to define and drive the technical and strategic roadmap for user terminal solutions across key verticals including land mobility, aero, maritime, and fixed applications;
- Oversee the architecture, design, development, and validation of complex electronic systems, including phased-array antennas, modems, and embedded software;
- Manage internal cross-functional engineering teams, including hardware, software, RF, antenna, and systems engineers, driving execution across all development phases, fostering a high-performance culture that prioritizes innovation, quality, and timely delivery;
- Ensure that all user terminal solutions meet performance, cost, certification, and interoperability requirements, particularly with LEO and GEO satellite network infrastructure;
- Oversee all aspects of industrialization with manufacturing partners, ensuring clear technical direction, and milestone alignment;
- Collaborate closely with product and commercial teams to translate customer requirements and market trends into scalable and competitive terminal solutions;
- Ensure rigorous program execution, including architecture definition, system validation, type certification, and compliance with regulatory and customer-specific standards;
- Act as a senior technical and strategic stakeholder, representing the user terminal development organization in executive forums and cross-functional planning sessions;
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, vendors, suppliers, and development methodologies to enhance product performance, reduce cost, and accelerate time to market.
What You’ll Need
- 15+ years of experience in satellite communications, wireless systems, or adjacent high-tech sectors, with a strong focus on user terminal or electronic product development;
- Extensive experience leading full life-cycle development of complex electronic systems, including semiconductor-based designs, embedded systems, and integrated antenna solutions;
- Proven ability to manage and align cross-functional engineering teams - including software, RF, mechanical, and systems engineering - to deliver cohesive, production-ready user terminal platforms;
- Strong technical knowledge of antenna systems (including phased array and electronically steered antennas), modem and RF architectures, and digital signal processing;
- Deep understanding of software development practices, including embedded software, firmware, and application-level integration across diverse hardware environments;
- Demonstrated success delivering products across multiple use-case verticals;
- Experience managing and integrating work from semiconductor vendors, ODMs/OEMs, and third-party module providers;
- Solid grasp of communications protocols, system-level tradeoffs, link budgets, and network-terminal interoperability within LEO and GEO satellite systems;
- Familiarity with relevant certification and compliance standards (e.g., DO-160, FCC, CE, ARINC, ISO, ITU, FCC, CE), with hands-on experience navigating regulatory pathways;
- Excellent program leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with a track record of aligning product development with strategic goals;
- Experience working in fast-paced, mission-driven organizations focused on innovation and large-scale deployment;
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, , or a closely related field; advanced degree preferred.
