Duties

  • Design and analyze satellite communication systems, including size and number of beams, bandwidth, coverage, … to meet system requirements (capacity, throughput, …).
  • Develop RF link budgets and conduct performance assessments using (custom) simulation tools;
  • Design modulation, coding, and multiplexing techniques for reliable satellite links;
  • Work with the designers and the customer on high-level architecture;
  • Support all aspects of the development chain: requirements, architecture, design, manufacturing, integration, test, operations;
  • Work on RF/telecommunication spacecraft architecture with various teams (e.g. RF, electrical, software, FPGA, network);
  • Support design reviews to ensure requirements and interface compliance;
  • Work closely with external providers of telecommunication systems to review designs, identify, and resolve issues and develop integration and test approaches;
  • Execute in-lab testing and on-orbit performance validation, using advanced RF measurement tools (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators).

Must have

  • MSc or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field;
  • 3+ years of experience in telecommunication systems, RF electronics or antenna;
  • Knowledge of telecommunication payloads and one or more standards (e.g., DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS2, 5G, CCSDS, …);
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously across teams and company to drive multi-disciplinary projects to completion;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • A passion for technology and rapid execution of sophisticated space missions;
  • Experience in frequency coordination (ITU, FCC);
  • Experience working on telecommunication satellite constellations;
  • Experience with RF systems analysis tools (SystemView or equivalent custom tools);
  • Knowledge of software-defined radios (SDR) and digital signal processing (DSP);
  • Knowledge of RF subsystems (transponders, antennas, amplifiers, frequency converters, SSPA,…);
  • Experience with interference analysis;
  • Experience with scripting language (Python);
  • Experience in space industry;
  • Willing to work out of your comfort zone.
