Reading, United Kingdom

A motivated System Modelling Engineer with a strong background in MATLAB-based algorithm development, RF system simulation, and PNT (Positioning–Navigation–Timing) analysis. This role supports the design, simulation, and performance evaluation of advanced communication and navigation systems, using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and ADS SystemVue. The engineer will contribute to system-level trade-off studies ensuring robust system design for next-generation space and communication applications.

  • Develop and maintain MATLAB/Simulink models for system-level analysis and algorithm evaluation.
  • Carry out RF and system modelling using tools such as Keysight ADS SystemVue or similar environments.
  • Support PNT-related studies, including algorithm development and system trade-offs for timing, positioning, and navigation resilience.
  • Perform link budget analysis, sensitivity studies, and trade-off analysis across mission scenarios.
  • Contribute to Concept of Operations (CONOPS) capture, ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
  • Assist in defining, managing, and tracing system requirements in support of the systems engineering process.
  • Document and present simulation results, system analyses, and requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across RF, software, and systems engineering.

Requirements

  • Candidate must hold a degree in an Engineering (or closely related) Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. program
  • 2–5 years of experience in system modelling, simulation, or systems engineering.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for algorithm modelling and analysis.
  • Exposure to ADS SystemVue or similar RF system simulation tools.
  • Understanding of PNT principles, navigation algorithms, and/or RF chain design.
  • Familiarity with CONOPS definition and requirements specification in a systems Engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of ECSS, and MIL- standards is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and teamwork mindset.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Python for algorithm prototyping.
  • Experience working in satellite or aerospace projects (CubeSat, nanosat, or larger missions)
  • Embedded systems and FPGA implementation experience
