Associate Professor of Cosmology

Associate Professor of Cosmology

University of Oxford - Department of Physics

Oxford, United Kingdom

Applications are invited for the post of Associate Professor (or Professor) in the field of Cosmology in the Astrophysics sub-department of the University of Oxford. The successful candidate will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship in Physics at St Peter’s College under arrangements described in the Job Description and Person Specification. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.

Candidates with significant experience in the analysis of large-scale structure and cosmic microwave background data are particularly encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in the exploitation of ongoing and near-future “Stage-IV” surveys, particularly in roles that will complement the expertise that currently exists in the department. This may involve data analysis at any level, the exploitation and development of novel statistical methods, or the theoretical modelling of cosmological and astrophysical observables. They will play a role in the running of the College as a charity trustee and a member of its Governing Body.

The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in the field of astronomy, astrophysics, theoretical physics or related field, and will have a proven record of research in astrophysics. They will be an excellent teacher of undergraduates and graduates and have the interpersonal skills necessary to engage with students and colleagues at all levels.

Don't forget to mention Space-Careers when applying.
