Mission Brief
A Mission Manager for a launcher company plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, execution, and success of rocket launch missions.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Mission Planning: Collaborating with various teams to plan the trajectory, payload integration, launch windows, and mission objectives and requirements. Create the Contractual Interface Control Documentation (ICD) and generate requirements for payload-to-launch vehicle interfaces.
- Coordination: Coordinating with engineers, scientists, and other specialists to ensure all mission components are ready and meet safety and regulatory requirements. The Mission Manager has to lead, perform, and drive requirements verification and validation activities. Oversee hands-on payload activities and develop operations plans and products for successful mission operations.
- Communication/Project Management: Serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including the customer, mission control, and external partners, including reporting, leading reviews, scope negotiation, and operations planning. Manage contractual deliverables from contract signing through to successful payload delivery to orbit.
- Risk Assessment: Identifying and mitigating potential risks or issues that could affect the mission’s success or safety.
- Timeline Management: Creating and managing timelines for mission milestones, including launch preparations for a streamlined mission integration process, countdown, and post-launch activities.
- Be a mentor to mission design engineers
Qualification Checklist
- Degree in engineering or an equivalent from a European university.
- At least 5 years of experience in a related field such as systems engineering, mission analysis.
- More than 2 years experience in Mission Management, Mission Integration, or Technical Program/Project Management.
- Expertise in the environment (coupled analyses between Spacecraft and Launch Vehicle).
- Background and expertise in launch campaigns and operations.
