As a Senior Software-Oriented System Engineer, you will be responsible for definition, validation and review of the software architecture requirements that power our advanced UAS platforms. You will be working closely with stakeholders from the Certification, System Test Engineering, Flight Testing departments to ensure seamless interaction between onboard avionics, mission systems, ground control software, and communication links, while maintaining compliance with aerospace and defense standards.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Define and manage software-related system requirements and ensure traceability throughout the lifecycle.
  • Preparation of technical documentation for systems/subsystems (e.g. specifications, integration and test plans, test specifications for integration and acceptance tests, design descriptions).
  • Perform trade studies for software solutions, considering performance, safety, and cybersecurity.
  • Ensuring compliance with development and production processes (system).
  • Ensuring that system verification and qualification is carried out in compliance with the norms/standards necessary for the task.
  • Collaborate with certification and compliance teams to meet standards such as DO-178C, ARP4754A, STANAGs, and cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Support model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and simulation for software validation.
  • Act as a technical liaison between software developers, hardware engineers, and external partners.
  • Mentoring and knowledge transfer.

What you bring to the team:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software systems engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, JAMA) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with UAS platforms or avionics software is a plus.
  • Several years of relevant professional experience in the field of system development (in unmanned systems)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Enjoyment of working together in a team.
  • Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-330 processes for airborne software.
  • Experience with C/C++, Python, and scripting for automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and release management.
  • Familiarity with data links and secure communication protocols (e.g., Link 16) is beneficial.
  • Experience in the field of simulation (HiL/SiL) and sensor technology (active and passive), incl. integration into platforms (via SDK/API).
  • Experience in the field of link systems, including integration into platforms.
  • Understanding cybersecurity requirements for airborne systems.
