Space Mechanical Systems Engineer
Alén Space
Nigrán or Remote, Spain
Job Description
The candidate will work on various small satellite missions within the company's Mechanical Design team. This area is responsible for all tasks related to the mechanical and structural design of satellites, including modeling, simulation, and analysis of components and structures using advanced design tools.
Throughout this process, the selected candidate will actively participate in key activities such as detailed design of satellite mechanical subsystems, development of optimized structures for launch and space environments, component integration, and the creation of 3D models and assemblies. Additionally, they will collaborate in design validation through finite element analysis and physical testing, ensuring compliance with technical and mission requirements. They will also work closely with other engineering teams to ensure compatibility between different satellite subsystems and optimize structural and thermal performance.
Moreover, the candidate may provide support in mission analysis areas when necessary. This will include activities such as the selection of physical components for the chosen architecture, defining mission and technical specifications for all subsystems, and assisting in their procurement. They will also be involved in system performance analysis and technical budget management, as well as managing internal and external interfaces for all mission elements.
Position Tasks and Responsibilities
The Space Mechanical Systems Engineer will be responsible for:
- Modeling, simulating, and analyzing satellite components and structures.
- Detailed design of satellite mechanical subsystems ensuring compliance with mission requirements.
- Developing optimized structures to withstand the conditions of launch and the space environment.
- Creating 3D models and assemblies of satellite components.
- Integrating satellite components, ensuring compatibility between different subsystems.
- Validating design through finite element simulations.
