Mission Brief

You will manage a cross functional engineering team which is responsible for definition of Loads (e.g. aerodynamic, thermal, static), Environments (thermal, vibro-acoustic, shock), Thermal Design (e.g. Thermal Protection & Control) and related analysis and vehicle instrumentation. You will play a major role in the development of Spectrum and other products as well as customer services.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

  • Lead and supervise a cross functional engineering team which is responsible for definition of Loads, Environments, Thermal Design and Fluid/Aerodynamic analysis;
  • Supervise definition, documentation and reviews of Loads, Environments and related analysis;
  • Supervise verification process and necessary flight instrumentation for Loads and Environments;
  • Supervise thermal analysis and design of thermal protection and thermal control systems of the Spectrum Launch vehicle;
  • Organize analysis requests from customers and for Mission Analysis with our colleagues from Mission and Launch Operations;
  • Drive decisions and definitions based on the teams engineering input and trade against risks;
  • Manages team capacity planning to balance coverage and wellbeing, oversee time and absences, and drive hiring, onboarding, succession, and performance management including annual reviews.

Qualification Checklist

  • Degree in the field of Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical or (Computational) Mechanics, or any other related field;
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the field of aerospace with focus on either loads, environments or thermals;
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in leading a hardware development team;
  • High degree of independence and confidence in assessing and trading design risks;
  • Holistic perspective on development of systems;
  • Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail;
  • Good communication and organizational skills;
  • Fluent in English.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in with launch vehicle development;
  • German Language Skills;
  • Experience with Ansys Fluent, Mechanical, Thermal Desktop, Siemens SimCenter, Hyperworks, Wave6.
