Structural Analysis Engineer - Engine Systems

Structural Analysis Engineer - Engine Systems

Beyond Aero

Toulouse, France

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer with proven experience on structural design of aircraft engine components. The ideal candidate will possess an excellent understanding of stress analysis techniques applied to the development of aircraft Propulsion Systems, as well as experience on dynamic and durability analysis. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will work closely with the Lead Propulsion Engineer.

Valuable member of the team your role will be:

  • Perform stress analyses on engine components including fan blades, discs, shafts, casings, and mounts using analytical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Perform dynamic (modal), fatigue, and damage tolerance analyses
  • Support the design teams in developing structurally optimized propulsion components by providing real-time input during design iterations.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models to simulate loads, thermal effects, and vibration behavior of propulsion system structures.
  • Participate in design reviews, safety reviews and supplier follow-up meetings.
  • Liaise with the manufacturing team to address producibility, material selection, and repair solutions.
  • Collaborate with test and instrumentation teams to define test plans, evaluate structural test results, and correlate with analytical models.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation and stress reports for design approval and certification purposes (e.g. FAA, EASA).
  • Support Root Cause Analysis of structural issues during testing or in-service operation.

The mission will be successful if Beyond has a robust, certifiable, and efficient hydrogen-electric propulsion system ready for the entry into service of the aircraft.

About you

  • You have a Master’s or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in structural analysis of aerospace propulsion components or similar high-performance turbomachinery.
  • You have a proven experience preparing stress reports and model vs test correlation reports for Airworthiness Authorities (EASA, FAA), on at least one aircraft engine program
  • You are proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN or Altair HyperWorks.
  • You have an experience with CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA) for model interpretation and data extraction.
  • You have a strong understanding of the mechanical properties of aerospace materials, including alloys and composites.
  • You have knowledges of turbomachinery aerodynamics and aeroelasticity.
  • you are familiar with certification requirements applicable to aircraft engines (e.g. CS-E, SC E-19).
  • You are autonomous, curious, and a good team player
  • You are able to challenge existing process and your management in a spirit of continuous improvement
  • You have an experience in a multi-cultural environment and understand international diversity
