Power System Engineer

You will be responsible for all aspects of power systems engineering for a new project, including designing the solution for the system, analysis, integration, and testing; making sure the satellite is ready to make and distribute the power needed for the mission. In addition, you will support on other projects across the company. This is an exciting opportunity to join a consortium project, with major industry players, in pushing the boundaries of existing space data technology.

Responsibilities

  • Mission requirements analysis (including Payload and Propulsion modes operation in all the phases of the mission);
  • Architecture definition of the Power Subsystem based on the mission requirement analysis;
  • Requirement specification of the Power Subsystem;
  • PCDU (Power Control & Distribution) unit requirement specification;
  • Battery unit requirements specification;
  • Solar Arrays requirements specification;
  • SADA requirements specification;
  • Interaction with providers (Battery, Solar Array, PCDU, SADA) as well as the interaction with other subsystem teams;
  • Power Subsystem documentation shall be performed based on the architecture, analysis and units;
  • Developing subsystem AIT (Activities of Integration & Test) based on the architecture including EGSE definition and acceptance.

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' working within power systems engineering or similar areas within the GEO space industry (excluding nanosats or microsats);
  • Knowledge and professional experience of the full lifecycle of power systems subsystems;
  • Ability to analyse data, derive conclusions, and manage design documentation as well as review and approve design changes;
  • Comfortable working closely with external vendors and consortium partners;
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Fluent written and spoken skills in English.
