RF Systems Engineer

Loft Orbital

Toulouse, France

As an RF Systems Engineer at Loft Orbital, you will play a pivotal role in the integration of RF subsystems for our high-reliability satellite systems. You work with our RF team across campuses to collaboratively develop, integrate, and test sub-system and system-level solutions for our satellites. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring the success of our space mission.

About this Role:

  • System-Level RF Architecture & Design - Contribute to the definition of end-to-end RF system architecture and requirements, ensuring compatibility with mission constraints and performance goals.
  • End-to-End Performance Analysis - Perform RF link budget analysis and system-level trade-offs to evaluate performance under various mission scenarios.
  • Requirements Engineering/Traceability - Support requirements definition, flow-down, and traceability from mission-level needs to RF subsystem specifications.
  • Test Campaign Support - Support the execution of RF test campaigns with our AIT teams, including test planning, documentation, and reporting of verification results.
  • Scripts, Tools and Simulation - Ability to develop scripts and low-level software for debugging and test purposes (proficiency in Python and C is a strong asset). Utilize modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, CST, ADS) to validate designs and predict system performance.
  • Cross-functional Communication - Act as a technical interface between RF, software, mechanical, system, Ground and AIT teams to ensure smooth integration and alignment with program objectives.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Radio Frequency subsystem integration.
  • Proven experience in RF system integration, debugging and performance analysis.
  • Demonstrated autonomy in leading system and SW integration.
  • Knowledge of S-band and X-band frequency communications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in Signal Processing algorithms.
  • Proficiency in link budget calculations and antenna simulations.
  • Familiarity with design principles related to EMI shielding, grounding, and RF signal integrity.
  • Experience with simulation tools for EMI/EMC and RF analysis.
  • Experience using CST (RF Simulation), ADS (design) tools.
