Senior System Engineer (Team Lead)

Position Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer will lead a team of younger systems engineers working across projects, aligning bet practices, procedures and team culture within the company. They will be involved in all aspects and phases of our programmes, defining the technical context and leading the implementation, working together with other disciplines, product owners and coordinating with project managers to ensure the successful technical outcome towards the end customer. The main responsibilities include:
- Systems engineering/systems architecting (space programmes);
- Project technical management toward delivering customer wants;
- Engineering workflow management;
- Advising and guiding younger systems engineers;
- Implement, deploy and drive uptake of development process & procedures – the practical and cultural foundations for future quality management;
- Stakeholder (Institutional & commercial customer) interfacing;
- Support proposal & bid preparation, both commercial and governmental;
- Drive a positive work culture & team energy;
- Implementing best practices, coding standards and quality assurance processes within the team;
- Participating in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices;
- Troubleshooting, resolving technical issues and addressing challenges in project implementation;
- Serving as a technical expert and advocate for innovation and continuous improvement within the team and company.
This position also includes participation in company strategic discussions and dissemination activities.

Experience & Qualifications Required
- Strong engineering background in software or software-adjacent field (electronics, vision systems, controls etc.);
- Exposure to project management (budgeting, scheduling, risk management, deliverables and review execution);
- Strong understanding of space product development cycle (including both software & hardware);
- Good understanding of spacecraft & space mission design, including basic orbital dynamics;
- Basic/intermediate understanding of Git or similar version control tool;
- Previous team management responsibility;
- Organised, structured and predictable way of working;
- Calm, reassuring and communicative personality;
- >8 years post-education relevant work experience.
Assets (not essential, but nice to have)
- Advanced git/Gitlab experience;
- Experience with AI models/frameworks (training & deployment), especially PyTorch;
- Experience with computer vision technologies (cameras, data pipelines, processing, simulation/rendering);
- Advanced orbital dynamics, especially during proximity operations;
- Familiar with ECSS (or able to navigate them for the relevant information);
- Previous hands-on experience in space qualification testing;
- Prior exposure to the defence sector;
- Familiarity with electronics or mechanical design (ECAD/CAD).
