Optics AIT Engineer
SATLANTIS
Bilbao, Spain
As an Optics AIT Engineer, you will be at the heart of the final stages of payload development, turning optical designs into validated, flight-ready systems through precise assembly, integration, and testing.
Your mission
Your mission will be to ensure that SATLANTIS optical payloads are correctly assembled, integrated, and validated, meeting demanding performance and quality standards before launch.
Through rigorous procedures, precise setups, and cleanroom execution, your work will be essential to delivering reliable, space-ready optical systems.
You will:
- Develop, improve, and execute AIT activities, procedures, and setups for optical payloads.
- Design and implement integration and validation setups for optoelectronic systems.
- Define Optical Ground Support Equipment (OGSE) and support its procurement.
- Perform assembly, integration, and validation of optoelectronic payloads in cleanroom environments, following established procedures.
- Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and validation records with clarity and rigor.
- Support proposal and project development in optics-related activities.
What will set you up for success
- A solid background in optics: A degree in Optics, Physics, or Engineering with a specialisation in optics gives you the foundation to work confidently with complex optical systems.
- Experience in optical systems for space: Previous exposure to space instrumentation helps you understand environmental constraints, performance margins, and validation needs.
- Image quality measurement expertise: Familiarity with MTF, PSF, and WFE enables you to validate and optimise optical performance effectively.
- Broad spectral experience: Experience with optical sensors in the VIS, SWIR, and/or thermal ranges allows you to contribute across diverse payload architectures.
- Cleanroom and AIT discipline: Hands-on experience in cleanroom environments supports precise execution and repeatable results.
- Advanced studies as an advantage: A Master’s or PhD in Optics Engineering is highly valued and can accelerate your impact in complex AIT activities.
