Senior Electronics Engineer

Senior Electronics Engineer

AIRMO

Berlin, Germany

The Role

AIRMO is looking for a hands-on, talented Electrical/Electronics Engineer to own the design, development, and production of our next-generation satellite and airborne electrical systems. You’ll be at the core of our flight hardware — powering payloads, orchestrating system availability, and ensuring rock-solid reliability in space and flight.

Your responsibilities in AIRMO

Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Designing, producing and testing custom PCBs for our flight hardware, including UAS and satellite sensors;
  • Developing and optimizing laser drivers and trigger systems for high-frequency signal processing;
  • Designing and constructing prototype electrical systems using COTS components;
  • Interfacing with IMUs, RTCs, environmental sensors, and other payload peripherals;
  • Building and running unit/integration tests, hardware-in-the-loop benches, and automated validation suites;
  • Designing, producing and testing power control systems for flight and laboratory hardware;
  • Collaborating closely with hardware, optics, and mission operations teams to integrate software into end-to-end payload systems;
  • Documenting architectures, schematics, test plans, and validation results with clarity and rigor.

What you should bring to AIRMO

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience;
  • 5+ years of electronics development, preferably in aerospace, robotics, or other high-reliability domains;
  • Expert-level Altium knowledge/equivalent experience;
  • Hands-on integration experience with:
    • Power control systems (switches, converters, distribution, metering and protection);
    • Inertial sensors, real-time clocks, environmental sensors;
    • Prototype hardware development for field-deployed devices;
    • High frequency pulse generation;
    • Ideally - fiber laser systems.
  • A “hacker” mentality: rapid prototyping, creative problem-solving, and a willingness to dive into firmware, heavy documentation, and debugging;
  • Fluency in English.

Requirements

The minimum requirements for applicants include:

  • Solid understanding of power management, current sensing, and hardware fault protection;
  • Solid experience designing, manufacturing and testing PCBs for embedded systems (end to end PCBA process);
  • Comfort troubleshooting logic faults and current leaks;
  • Enthusiasm to learn about the NewSpace or Climate tech.
