To support our Company’s growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic Validation and Verification (V&V) Systems Engineer who will be part of our Systems Engineering Unit contributing to the development of Small Satellite platforms, with a primary focus on the coordination and execution of the validation and verification activities across all stages of the spacecraft lifecycle. This role ensures that the satellite and every component meet mission requirements, guaranteeing the project’s overall success.
DUTIES
As a Validation and Verification (V&V) Systems Engineer, you will oversee all crucial elements of the spacecraft lifecycle, managing subsystems and system-level tasks. Your responsibilities include defining, organizing, and carrying out all activities required to validate and verify both the spacecraft, the payload and its components throughout each phase of the mission to ensure the success of the project.
The activities will include (but are not limited to):
- Involvement in space projects as accountable for Verification and Validation in all mission phases (from phase 0/A up to E);
- Definition the model philosophy, the verification approach and strategy;
- Accountability for the redaction and execution of the AIV Plan;
- Accountability for the redaction of test specifications, collecting information and needs from all the disciplines and delegating the ones they cannot redact on their own;
- Maintain the VCD, collecting all the verification reports from all the disciplines;
- Maintain the Verification schedule, reporting to the Integrated Project Team;
- Coordination with the Mission Architect / Technical Lead and other technical figures in the team;
- Support to the Systems Engineering colleagues on the definition and management of technical requirements and specifications throughout the entire project lifecycle;
- Preparation of technical documentation, reports and technical notes;
- Support Flight Operations Team in definition and execution of the mission;
- Interface with Quality Department and participate in (external/internal) NRB and NCR processes and configuration control processes.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in Aerospace or Space Engineering or related technical field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within space field;
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams;
- High flexibility and team-working capability;
- Hands-on and proactive approach;
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary and international teams;
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of mission, system and subsystems requirements definition and validation;
- Knowledge of Spacecraft and Subsytems model philosophies and overall test campaign stages;
- Good understanding of satellite architecture and design with CubeSat and SmallSat platforms;
- Knowledge of mission phases (as ECSS standard) and main activities to be performed;
- Knowledge of system engineering tools and processes;
- Knowledge of interfaces between subsystems (data, power, electrical);
- Knowledge of aerospace systems applicable standards, such as ECSS, MIL, NASA STD;
- Knowledge of space component technologies and European/market of Small Satellite;
- Knowledge of Product Assurance and Quality management processes.
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
- Knowledge of system budgets (at least mass, power, energy, volume);
- Experience with MBSE approach and implementation;
- Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence in Agile working framework;
- Experience with in-orbit spacecraft operations;
- Performed projects review under Agency supervision (e.g. ESA, NASA, ASI).
