Test Engineer for Re-entry Systems

ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking a skilled Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineer for a 2-year fixed-term project role. In this position, you will work on internal and external projects related to the testing, validation, and quality control of inflatable structures and gas-barrier materials. In addition, you will take on project management and planning responsibilities, supporting the coordination and execution of technology development activities at ATMOS.
Key responsibilities
- You will operate test stands and iterate on small-scale breadboards;
- You will set and follow internal standards for manufacturing and testing;
- You will plan and execute test campaigns and test setups of our re-entry structural elements;
- You will supervise and support manufacturing and quality assurance activities;
- You will develop testing approaches and data-acquisition systems;
- You will be involved in the design making and design improvement process.
Profile required
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering;
- Experience with hands-on testing of mechanical components;
- Expertise in the area of technical textiles or fiber-reinforced composites;
- Strong skills with MATLAB, Python, and the development of data-driven engineering approaches;
- Having worked with sensor data acquisition and integration such as pressure transducers, strain gauges, and load cells;
- Good understanding of structural mechanics.
Preferred qualifications
- Sound knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermal engineering;
- Expertise in the area of technical textiles or fiber-reinforced composites;
- CAD software and the use of the PDM (CATIA, SolidWorks or similar).
