Senior RF/Microwave Engineer

Scope:
We are seeking a Semi-Senior RF Engineer to contribute to the definition, development, and validation of complex RF and electronic systems.
The role focuses on system-level design, board-level design, flow-down requirements, architecture trade-offs, and technical coordination between RF, digital, power, mechanical, and software domains.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience bridging subsystem/board design and overall system performance, ensuring compliance with functional, performance, and environmental requirements.
This position requires a strong analytical mindset, practical engineering judgment, hands-on experience, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams throughout the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain system-level architecture for RF and electronic systems.
- Translate customer and mission requirements into system and subsystem specifications.
- Perform system-level trade-off analysis (performance, cost, power, complexity, risk)
- Define and manage key system budgets:
- RF link budget
- Noise figure and gain budget
- Power consumption and thermal budget
- Frequency plan and spur analysis
- Coordinate interfaces between subsystems:
- RF, analog, digital, power, firmware, and mechanical
- Definition and control of ICDs (Interface Control Documents)
- Support RF system design activities:
- Receiver and transmitter architectures
- Frequency conversion chains
- LO, PLL, and clocking strategies
- Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure subsystem designs meet system intent
- Support system-level simulations and analysis using appropriate tools
- Participate in design reviews
- Support system integration, bring-up, and debugging activities
- Analyze test results and correlate measurements with system-level expectations
- Support verification and validation plans and procedures
- Interface with project management and stakeholders on technical topics
- Board design for RF is a plus
- Experience in space or high-reliability systems is a plus.
Required Education and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in RF/microwave
- Hands-on experience with RF systems and components
- Desirable knowledge in PCB design tools such as:
- Altium Designer (preferred)
- Cadence Allegro / OrCAD
- Mentor Xpedition
- Proficiency with RF design and simulation tools:
- ADS
- HFSS
- CST
- AWR Microwave Officce
- Ability to read and interpret RF schematics and simulation results
- Ability to read and understand parts datasheets
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
