Flight Test Director

The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Flight Test, the Flight Test Director will be responsible for definition of and completion of test flights and follow-on development and acceptance of the flight test program of Black Swan Aircraft and ancillary assets.
The Responsibilities:
- Definition of flight test plan with Head of Flight Test, Head of the Design Organisation and Director of Flight Operations.
- Creation of Flight Test Cards/agreement of Test Points.
- Support of Flight Readiness Reviews and Safety Review Boards.
- Management of Flight Test in different testing sites.
- Creation and issue of Post Test Report.
- Completion of First Flight review.
- Participate in and support the test program design reviews, schedule meetings, liaison with test site management.
- Maturity and professionalism to lead the execution of flight test briefings and missions and oversee a team of disciplined engineers.
- Write and review flight tests and safety plans. Brief safety packages to Test team and Management team.
- Review, update and brief Risk Hazard Analysis.
- Monitor performance parameters of experimental and operational systems during flights.
- Must work well in a team environment as well as independently.
- Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of the flight test program.
- The role involves frequent travel to Flight Test Sites. Additional business trips in the EU may be required upon notice.
Your Qualifications:
- Prior experience as Flight Test Director.
- Minimum of 3 years of Flight test leadership.
- Minimum of 5 years experience supporting flight test activities.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead a small team in successful flight testing.
- Bachelor of Science/Engineering in technical field preferred.
- Experience as an aircrew member (Pilot, EWO, NAV, etc.) and/or mentoring more junior FTEs and engineers is a plus but not required, as well as a Private Pilot license or higher.
