Mission Brief

The task of a Propulsion Design Engineer in the fluid system is to develop subsystems of the fluid system, from their initial conception to series production and operation. This includes the management of requirements, design calculations & simulations, CAD modelling, drawing creation, manufacturing organization, acceptance & qualification test planning, test operations, test evaluation & documentation. You will be actively involved in testing and travelling to our launch and test sites.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

  • Fully own fluidic subsystems from engineering to timeline
  • Define and manage the requirements of your owned subsystems
  • Perform calculations and simulations of components and systems
  • Work on iterative development, qualification, acceptance & flight testing of hardware
  • Interface with other engineering departments to work on shared systems
  • Participate in integrated and stage testing & launch operations

Qualification Checklist

  • M.Sc. or M.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Strong basic engineering fundamentals
  • Robust fundamentals of fluid dynamics and related analysis
  • Experience in modeling complex fluid dynamics problems
  • Experience in working with fluidic systems, ideally in the context of rockets
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming language
  • Hands-on experience in test preparation and operation
  • Robust skills in data analysis and preparation of post-test data reviews
  • Experience with CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or Siemens NX)
  • Passion for rocket propulsion and space
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Driven and eager to learn
  • Willingness to travel in support of launching and testing hardware
  • Fluent in English

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience in valve development for rocket engines
  • Hands-on testing experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility
  • Experience with valve qualification & certification according to regulatory standards
  • Knowledge of technical drawing rules and material science
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Experience using ECOSIM
