Argotec

San Mauro Torinese, Italy

To support our Company’s growth, we are looking for a skilled and passionate Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis Lead, who will work in close coordination with the Flight Control and Mission Planning functions, ensuring that flight dynamics products are defined, developed, operationally validated, and executable during LEOP, commissioning, and routine operations. You will also play a pivotal role during spacecraft and mission definition phases through close cooperation with the Systems Engineering team.

DUTIES

Under the hierarchical authority of the Head of the Flight Operations Unit, as a Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis Lead, you will be responsible for the functional coordination of the Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis engineers’ pool, overseeing the preparation, execution, and monitoring of all activities related to Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis. This includes the tailoring, deployment and evolution of the Flight Dynamics System within Argotec.

As a Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis Lead, you will play a key role in supporting the Flight Operations Team, ensuring the effective implementation, operational usage, and maintenance of Flight Dynamics solutions throughout the mission lifecycle. You will also contribute to the development of tools and scripts to enhance satellite operations and to support the integration of Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis activities with Mission Control Software.

The activities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Define and maintain flight dynamics operational concepts, constraints, procedures, and validation logic to ensure safe and repeatable execution across the fleet;
  • Coordinate, plan, and oversee the preparation, execution, and monitoring of all Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis activities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, procedures, and mission requirements;
  • Act as the primary technical coordination interface for Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis within the Flight Operations context, supporting routine, special, and critical operations, including on-console activities when required;
  • Ensure effective alignment between Flight Dynamics, Mission Analysis, Flight Operations and Project Management, translating mission objectives into coherent technical activities and priorities;
  • Oversee the implementation, operational use, maintenance, and evolution of Flight Dynamics software and tools, including technical issue management and escalation;
  • Coordinate and supervise Mission Analysis, Navigation, and GNC analytical activities during the operations phase, contributing to design‑phase activities under the lead of GNC/System Engineering;
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Flight Dynamics and Mission Analysis team, representing the function toward customers and external stakeholders;
  • Support spacecraft and mission definition phases by providing FD/MA expertise, including orbital concepts, constraints, and preliminary analyses, in close cooperation with the Systems Engineering team;
  • Ensure that design‑phase FD/MA outputs are consistent with, and smoothly transitioned into, validated and executable products for LEOP, commissioning, and routine operations.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mechanic Engineering, or a related technical field;
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the aerospace sector;
  • Previous experience in functionally leading a group of engineers in deploying a flight dynamics–related project;
  • High flexibility, teamwork capability, and strong communication skills;
  • Hands‑on and proactive approach, with ability to work with tight schedules;
  • Availability for shift work and on-call availability when required is mandatory;
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary and international teams;
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

  • Solid understanding of Flight Dynamics principles, including orbit determination, trajectory analysis and orbit maneuvering;
  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C++;
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to analyse complex data sets;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal capabilities to interact effectively with cross‑functional teams;
  • Strong system‑level thinking, results‑oriented mindset, and solid planning/prioritisation capabilities;
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

  • Knowledge of MONTE, GODOT, and Orekit environments;
  • Knowledge of Ground Segment utilization;
  • Knowledge of Mission Control Software and its integration with Flight Dynamics systems;
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools supporting satellite system operations.
