Propulsion Systems Designer

Propulsion Systems Designer

Arkadia Space

Castellon de la Plana, Spain

About the Position

As a Propulsion Systems Design at Arkadia, you will play a key role in defining and maturing propulsion products from concept to qualification.

You will translate customer and mission needs into structured system architectures, requirements and verification strategies — ensuring technical consistency across disciplines and alignment with programme milestones. Setting this foundation, you will own and execute the system design in CAD, and coordinate the execution of the manufacturing, integration and test of the final product.

This is a high-impact role where your decisions influence real hardware, real campaigns and real missions.

You will work in close coordination with various discipline experts (mechanical, propulsion, electronics, software, AIT, project management), as well as customers and suppliers to ensure technical and programmatic coherence.

What you'll be doing

  • Design propulsion systems (architecture and 3D modelling in CAD).
  • Own the requirements definition, traceability and verification strategy
  • Manage technical budgets (mass, power, performance, margins)
  • Perform system-level trade-offs (architecture, interfaces, manufacturability)
  • Manage interfaces across internal disciplines and customer hardware
  • Support manufacturing, integration and test campaigns
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development lifecycle
  • Contribute to customer technical discussions and design reviews
  • Ensure alignment between technical decisions and project milestones in coordination with the Project Manager

What you'll need

  • MSc. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in design and development of space systems
  • Experience with CAD tools (NX preferably, SolidWorks, Catia or others)
  • Strong analytical and structured thinking skills
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary development environments
  • Comfortable taking ownership in fast-paced, iterative teams
  • Advanced English (spoken and written)

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with ECSS standards or similar frameworks
  • Experience with modelling and analysis tools (MATLAB, Python or similar)
  • Basic understanding of technical budgeting (mass, performance, interfaces)
  • Experience with system integration and/or campaigns
  • Spanish is a plus
