PA/QA Engineer

EDGX

Ghent, Belgium

Key Responsibilities

  • PA/QA Framework & Philosophy: Define and build the internal product assurance and quality assurance framework from the ground up (standards, processes, audit plans…) tailored to a NewSpace company targeting high reliability in LEO;
  • Reliability Proof: Own the analytical proof behind our reliability claims. Conduct and coordinate reliability studies (FMEA/FMECA, FIDES, derating analyses) to quantify and demonstrate mission reliability to customers and agencies;
  • Co-Engineering with R&D: Work alongside hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, actively advising on design choices, component selection, and mitigation strategies that improve product reliability;
  • Production Process Improvement: Advise and audit the production team on workmanship standards for soldering, harnessing, and other AIT activities. Identify the right places to improve processes and drive those improvements;
  • Parts Quality Assurance: Own the parts quality strategy: component derating analysis, approved parts lists, EEE parts screening requirements, and COTS component qualification strategies;
  • Configuration Management: Maintain configuration baselines, control change processes, and audit configuration status at key milestones;
  • Environmental Testing Support: Support qualification and environmental test campaigns by defining pass/fail criteria and witnessing critical tests;
  • External PA/QA Interface: Represent the company’s quality posture to customers, prime contractors, and agencies (ESA, European Commission) on all PA/QA matters.

What you're bringing

  • Space PA/QA experience: You have several years of experience in the space industry, ideally having grown from an engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, systems) into product assurance or quality assurance. You understand qualification logic, reliability analysis, and what it takes to deliver flight hardware;
  • Reliability engineering: You have hands-on experience with reliability studies — FMEA/FMECA, FIDES, derating analysis, or similar methodologies. You know how to translate reliability claims into quantified, defensible evidence;
  • Standards familiarity: You are familiar with ECSS standards (ECSS-Q-ST-10, ECSS-Q-ST-60, ECSS-M-ST-40C) and EEE parts management practices. Formal certification is not required, but you know how these standards translate into day-to-day engineering practice;
  • Co-engineer, not just auditor: You’re not happy just flagging issues, you want to sit with the engineers and work through solutions. You combine quality rigour with a pragmatic, collaborative approach;
  • Customer-facing confidence: You’re comfortable representing the company’s quality posture to ESA, prime contractors, and satellite manufacturers during reviews and audits;
  • Languages: English proficiency is mandatory. A second language (Dutch, German, French, etc.) is appreciated.
