Missions: Own the system engineering for our missions end-to-end. Define mission objectives, concept of operations, success criteria, and the mission timeline from development through commissioning;
Requirements & Interface Management: Derive system-level requirements from mission objectives, manage interfaces with spacecraft bus or platform providers, and maintain interface control documents. Flow requirements down to internal subsystem specifications;
Hosted Payload Architecture: Architect turnkey processing solutions by integrating EDGX computers with commercial subsystems (sensors, communication modules, power & thermal systems) into complete hosted payloads ready for flight on third-party platforms;
Platform Integration: Manage the technical interface with host satellite operators and platform providers. Ensure our payload meets their mechanical, electrical, thermal, and data interface requirements;
Mission Operations: Define and execute operational procedures: command sequences, data downlink plans, health monitoring, and contingency procedures. Monitor operational status and accumulated flight hours across all missions;
Commissioning & On-Orbit Support: Lead the commissioning phase after launch. Support early operations, anomaly investigation, performance monitoring, and OTA software updates;
Compute-as-a-Service Vision: Contribute to the long-term strategy of deploying EDGX compute infrastructure across a constellation of hosted payload opportunities, turning individual mission slots into a scalable orbital compute network.
What you're bringing
Space systems experience: You have several years of experience in space systems engineering. You’ve worked on real missions (whether as a systems engineer, payload engineer, or in a related role) and you understand the full mission lifecycle from requirements through operations;
Systems thinking: You naturally think at the system level: interfaces, budgets, trade-offs, failure modes. You’re comfortable managing requirements traceability and working across electrical, mechanical, software, and thermal disciplines;
Operations experience: Hands-on experience with mission operations (LEOP, commissioning, ground segment) is a strong plus. If you haven’t done it yet, you should be eager to own it;
Integration mindset: You’re energised by the challenge of combining different subsystems and components into a working whole. You enjoy the puzzle of making things fit, mechanically, electrically, and operationally;
Entrepreneurial drive: The compute-as-a-service vision excites you. You want to be part of building orbital datacenter infrastructure;
Languages: English proficiency is mandatory. A second language (Dutch, German, French, etc.) is appreciated.
Don't forget to mention Space-Careers when applying.
