What You ‘ll Be Doing:
Participate in the entire aircraft design and development cycle of state-of-the-art fixed-wing small and tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for defense and security applications, including certification.
Contribute to the development of unmanned aircraft electrical and avionics system architectures including power generation and distribution systems, avionics networks and data buses.
Define system interfaces and interconnections between avionics subsystems.
Support the development of system block diagrams, wiring architecture, and interface control documents (ICDs).
Participate in trade studies for avionics equipment and electrical components.
Work with cross functional teams for the analysis, definition, allocation and traceability of system requirements and architectures.
Define and manage system-level requirements using requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS or equivalent).
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) including physical, logical, functional architecture design and modeling of unmanned aircraft systems and their subsystems.
Produce and maintain technical documentation including system design description, test specifications, etc.
Participate in system integration testing and troubleshooting during ground and flight tests.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Aerospace/Systems Engineering or related discipline.
Experience with:
Aerospace or ground vehicle electrical power systems, avionics/electronic platforms system design and integration
Avionics/electronics data communication buses such as ARINC-429, CAN/CANopen, RS232/485, etc.
Desired:
System engineering lifecycle (architecture and design, requirements, documentation, CONOPS, integration and verification).
Modeling complex systems using MBSE SysML tools, e.g. Matlab/Simulink/System Composer.
Experience with engineering requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS.
Familiarity with:
ARP4754 and ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 aircraft and systems engineering life cycle processes.
Hazard analysis and safety assessment processes and standards, e.g. ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, ISO 26262, IEC 61508.
Environmental and EMI/EMC standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, etc.
Certification standards such as STANAG-4671, CS-23, etc.
