Are you a space systems engineer with a passion for space, satellite missions and advanced equipment solutions? Do you thrive at the intersection of customer engagement, systems engineering, satellite design, and technical sales? Are you motivated by translating complex mission needs into tailored subsystem solutions and delivering real value through strong technical insight and commercial understanding? Then this role could be your next mission.
The Role
As a Systems Engineer in our equipment sales team, you will play a key role in the early engagement and solution definition phases of customer satellite projects. You will translate mission objectives and customer requirements into tailored equipment solutions, preliminary system configurations, and technical budgets, forming the backbone of high-quality technical proposals and offers. You will work with Space Inventor’s ecosystem in all of its aspects - Power, Data handling, Software, AOCS, Communication, etc.
You will work closely with customers, internal system engineers, and subsystem experts to define optimal equipment selections and configurations, leveraging Space Inventor’s in-house avionics and spacecraft building blocks. As part of the sales organization, your work typically spans from initial customer dialogue and needs assessment through technical proposal development and contract negotiation.
You will influence critical early decisions by guiding customers toward the right equipment choices - turning mission needs and concepts into concrete, feasible solutions that are later integrated, built, and ultimately launched into orbit.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement
Participate in customer meetings to understand objectives, customer requirements, constraints, and priorities.
Capture, structure, and refine customer requirements and translate them into system-level solutions and mature satellite subsystem designs.
Act as a technical interface between customers, sales managers, and internal engineering teams during the sales phase.
Support existing and potential customers with the technical questions related to Space Inventor’s equipment and sub-systems.
Spacecraft Concept Design & Analysis
Develop satellite subsystem design concepts tailored to customer missions.
Evaluate customer requirements against Space Inventor’s components capabilities
Perform feasibility studies to ensure that customer needs are met with a specific solution that you designed.
Technical Proposal Development
Lead or contribute to the creation of high-quality technical proposals.
Draft clear and compelling technical descriptions, system overviews, and concept justifications.
Support internal cost and effort estimations in work package descriptions by providing well-defined technical inputs.
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with system engineers, domain experts, sales managers, and project managers.
Support continuous improvement of internal tools, methods, and reusable proposal assets.
Your Profile
You are structured, thorough, and comfortable working as an engineer on the front line - communicating with customers and partners, supporting their questions and inquiring internally to ensure that their questions are answered. You have experience with engineering disciplines like power electronics and/or other engineering disciplines that apply to spacecraft. You are curious and willing to become comfortable with discussing multi-disciplinary technical topics, covering different subsystems within a satellite system.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with space systems and a solid understanding of:
Satellite avionics modules.
Systems engineering principles and practices.
Hands-on experience or strong interest in all aspects of spacecraft subsystems design.
Comfortable in communicating, uncovering customer needs, being empathetic and understanding during customers meetings.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
Proficient in working in a team and speaking with customers and many people internally in the organization.
A background in customer-facing technical roles, pre-sales, or proposal work can be a plus.
