Design and analyze satellite communication systems, including size and number of beams, bandwidth, coverage, … to meet system requirements (capacity, throughput, …);
Develop RF link budgets and conduct performance assessments using (custom) simulation tools;
Design modulation, coding, and multiplexing techniques for reliable satellite links;
Work with the designers and the customer on high-level architecture;
Support all aspects of the development chain: requirements, architecture, design, manufacturing, integration, test, operations;
Work on RF/telecommunication spacecraft architecture with various teams (e.g. RF, electrical, software, FPGA, network);
Support design reviews to ensure requirements and interface compliance;
Work closely with external providers of telecommunication systems to review designs, identify, and resolve issues and develop integration and test approaches;
Execute in-lab testing and on-orbit performance validation, using advanced RF measurement tools (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators).
Must have
MSc or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field;
3+ years of experience in telecommunication systems, RF electronics or antenna;
Knowledge of telecommunication payloads and one or more standards (e.g., DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS2, 5G, CCSDS, …);
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously across teams and company to drive multi-disciplinary projects to completion;
Good communication skills;
Fluency in English.
Nice to have
A passion for technology and rapid execution of sophisticated space missions;
Experience in frequency coordination (ITU, FCC);
Experience working on telecommunication satellite constellations;
Experience with RF systems analysis tools (SystemView or equivalent custom tools);
Knowledge of software-defined radios (SDR) and digital signal processing (DSP);
Knowledge of RF subsystems (transponders, antennas, amplifiers, frequency converters, SSPA,…);
Experience with interference analysis;
Experience with scripting language (Python);
Experience in space industry;
Willing to work out of your comfort zone.
