Launch Operations Engineer

Launch Operations Engineer

Isar Aerospace

Ottobrunn, Germany

Mission Brief

As a Launch Operations Engineer, you’ll join the team in Germany that shapes how our missions come to life. From the moment a campaign is conceived, we are aligning global launch sites, synchronizing teams and defining the operational path that ultimately determines how—and whether—the rocket leaves the ground.

Within the global Launch Operations team, you stand at the core of our mission: transforming complex campaigns into repeatable, scalable and reliable operations over multiple launch sites. Your work creates the structure that enables teams across the world to execute with confidence and precision.

When a campaign moves from planning to execution, you step directly into the field—joining local teams on site, supporting coordination efforts in the company, and operations both inside and outside the control room. In these moments, you are a key part of turning months of preparation into a successful launch day.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

  • Support in coordinating and preparing launch and stage acceptance campaigns end‑to‑end, ensuring full launch system readiness.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our launch system to support operational decisions, even under pressure. You use this knowledge to guide local teams and maintain global alignment.
  • Work directly with the test or launch director to set and improve the operational envelope before the rocket reaches the pad.
  • As our launch cadence grows and additional sites come online, you will contribute to our team shaping the future of multi‑site launch operations and define how our global team executes missions.
  • Feeding flight experience directly back into engineering teams, ensuring that operational insights continuously improve our system design.

Qualification Checklist

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the space sector or a comparable high‑stakes environment, with a strong background in mission or operational roles, ideally including launch‑related responsibilities.
  • Degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering or a comparable engineering discipline.
  • System-level technical understanding of launch vehicles and their subsystems.
  • Demonstrated autonomy and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary troubleshooting and cross‑functional coordination.
  • Ability to maintain clarity and performance in high‑stress, long‑duration operational settings.
  • Strong organizational discipline, situational awareness, and ability to lead within diverse teams.
  • Comfortable working self‑sufficiently and adapting quickly to highly dynamic environments.
  • Willingness to travel to global launch sites for multi‑week campaign deployments.
  • Fluent in English.
