Mixed-Signal Hardware Engineer - Radar and High-Frequency Systems

Mixed-Signal Hardware Engineer - Radar and High-Frequency Systems

Quantum Systems

Bonn, Germany

As an Mixed-Signal HW Engineer, you will be a key part of our Radar Technology team to drive the development of cutting-edge miniaturized radar systems. Together with our World-Class-Team, currently 7 team members, you will take an empowering role: pushing the boundaries of drone technologies.

You will be working closely with stakeholders from the Engineering and Product Development departments to design, simulate, and optimize mixed-signal PCBs and engineer robust high-speed systems with optimized power distribution, signal integrity, and low-noise analog performance. Your mission will have a powerful impact: enhancing Quantum-Systems’ radar capabilities through precision engineering and innovation.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Development of mixed-signal hardware for radar and sensor systems;
  • Design of multilayer high-speed PCBs (Altium Designer);
  • Implementation of impedance-controlled high-speed layouts;
  • Integration of FPGA-/MPSoC-based systems (e.g. Xilinx/AMD Zynq MPSoC or RFSoC);
  • Development of power management and DC supply concepts for radar front ends and back ends;
  • Design of low-noise power supplies for sensitive analog and RF assemblies;
  • Development of shielding and enclosure concepts for RF assemblies;
  • Design and implementation of self-test, monitoring, and diagnostic functions;
  • Support for system integration, commissioning, validation, and debugging.

Optional/depending on the project:

  • Support in the integration of high-speed interfaces;
  • Collaboration in implementing signal processing on FPGA (RTL or HLS).

What you bring to the team

  • Degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, or a comparable field;
  • Several years of experience in mixed-signal hardware design;
  • Experience in designing multilayer PCBs with Altium Designer;
  • Experience with high-speed layouts and impedance-controlled PCBs;
  • Experience with power management and low-noise power supply design;
  • Knowledge of designing sensitive analog and RF assemblies;
  • Experience with EMC-compliant design as well as shielding and enclosure techniques;
  • Experience in system integration, commissioning, and debugging of complex hardware;
  • Experience with FPGA or MPSoC systems (e.g. AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+).

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of Vivado (IP Integrator, timing closure, constraints/XDC);
  • Understanding of PS/PL architectures and AXI-based systems;
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g. 10 Gigabit Ethernet or SerDes);
  • Experience with signal processing on FPGAs (RTL or HLS);
  • Experience with build and deployment flows (Vivado, PetaLinux).
