RF Engineer - Radar and High-Frequency Systems

Quantum Systems

Bonn, Germany

As an RF Engineer, you will be a key part of our Radar Technology team to drive the development of cutting-edge miniaturized radar systems. Together with our World-Class-Team, currently 7 team members, you will take an empowering role: pushing the boundaries of drone technologies.

You will be working closely with stakeholders from the Engineering and Product Development departments to design, simulate, and optimize RF PCBs and develop and integrate high-frequency radar subsystems, including pulsed RF frontends, beamformer ICs, and phased-array architectures. Your mission will have a powerful impact: enhancing Quantum-Systems’ radar capabilities through precision engineering and innovation.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • Development and design of high-frequency PCBs for radar and sensor systems;
  • Hardware design of FMCW and pulsed radar systems;
  • Integration of RF assemblies for pulsed radar systems;
  • Integration and control of modern radar and beamformer ICs;
  • Design and characterization of RF front ends and beamformer assemblies;
  • Measurement-based analysis and optimization of RF and radar assemblies;
  • Development of EMC, shielding, and RF enclosure concepts;
  • Implementation of calibration, self-test, and diagnostic functions;
  • Support for integration, commissioning, validation, and system testing;
  • Contributing to concepts for thermal management of high-power RF systems.

What you bring to the team:

  • Completed degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, or high-frequency engineering;
  • Several years of experience in RF and high-frequency PCB design;
  • Very good knowledge of Altium Designer;
  • Experience in hardware design of radar or high-frequency systems, preferably pulse radar;
  • Experience with beamforming, phased arrays, or beamformer ICs;
  • Knowledge of EMC-compliant design, shielding, and RF enclosure techniques;
  • Experience with signal integrity and power integrity in high-frequency layouts;
  • Experience in calibration of transmit/receive arrays;
  • Experience with RF measurement equipment, such as network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.

Nice to have

  • Experience in integrating complex RF or radar systems;
  • Knowledge in the field of antennas or antenna arrays.
