Responsibilities

  • Successful delivery of large hardware development programs;
  • Manage overall engineering project planning and delivery in line with product management roadmap;
  • Assure that engineering team achieves objectives and development plan;
  • Working collaboratively with cross functional and cross divisional teams to meet defined goals and objectives, as part of overall roadmap and program delivery;
  • Work with vendors, stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop detailed work package definitions, budget, resourcing plan and implementation plan;
  • Drive collaboration and teamwork to execute the plan, and monitor progress;
  • Provide accurate and timely status reporting for internal and external customers;
  • Manage project forecasting of allocated resources and overall budget;
  • Measure performance metrics with respect to team productivity and quality;
  • Manage team budget and resource planning/allocation activities.

Qualifications

  • Have a good understanding of the life cycle of a hardware development project, the main activities and their interdependencies such as requirements collection, prototype design and validation, BOM cost management, regulatory compliance testing and hand-over from engineering to manufacturing;
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and decision-making skills in a highly technical work environment;
  • Have an entrepreneurial attitude with a ‘can do’ mentality;
  • Experience leading matrixed and multi-location engineering organizations, with international experience;
  • Strong management, mentoring, relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills;
  • Leadership skills to help the team navigate through a dynamic industry and the ability to demonstrate grace under fire;
  • Strong program management and negotiation skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment are musts;
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills – oral/written communications, relationship building, negotiation and conflict mediation – across multiple levels in the organization;
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, able to balance multiple projects and tasks, complete them successfully, and within timelines;
  • Strong interpersonal skill and oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience of implementing and controlling change Management;
  • Highly proficient in Jira, Business Intelligence and Reporting industry standard tools;
  • Experience in leading ESA-funded projects, compiling ESA project status reports and driving milestone reviews is an asset;
  • Additional certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile development (eg SCRUM) is an asset;
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, a related subject area, or equivalent experience;
  • Experience:
    • 7+ years of overall engineering experience in hardware development or related technical fields;
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing telecommunications development and integration engineering teams on implementation of major software/hardware development projects.
