    Job Description

    HE Space is a successful international space company. For over 30 years, we have been supporting our customers with qualified experts in the field of engineering, science and administration. We are currently looking for a Data Processing System Engineer to support our customer in Germany.
     

    Data Processing System Engineer (EO)

    Key Tasks and Responsibilities
    As part of the Sentinel 3 operations team, you will have the following responsibilities:

    • Maintenance of DFEP and L0 processing systems;
    • Systems engineering for the Sentinel-3 Marine Payload Data Ground Segment;
    • Support to the day to day operation and maintenance;
    • Analyse and testing of the facilities including the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes;
    • Integrating the individual SW Facilities into a data processing system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including end-to-end testing of the production system;
    • Setting-up and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the co-ordination with external providers of maintenance services;
    • Participation in the specification and development of specific monitoring tools for S-3.
       

    Skills & Experience
    You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

    • Several years of experience in maintaining and engineering of evolutions of large scale software systems (space mission/instrument data processing and specially related to DFEP and L0 processing for satellite EO data);
    • Experience in software development lifecycles;
    • Software debugging and profiling tools (e.g. GDB, DBX, IBM Purify, Valgrind);
    • Source code control systems, preferably Subversion and CVS;
    • Software testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation;
    • Experience with DFEP processors (as used by S-3) and L0 processing within a framework based solution (PDGS for S-3);
    • Networking technologies and tools (CCSDS protocols, Space Data Link Protocols, TCP/IP, UDP multicast, PGM, FTP, Wireshark), C/C++/Java programming language experience in a UNIX/Linux based environment and knowledge of Scripting languages (Python, Perl, Tcl/Tk, shell);
    • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
