    Context

    SES is  introducing four Market Solutions Centers (MSCs) as an overlay to the existing regional approach in order to best serve the rapidly evolving growth verticals: Next Generation Data-Fixed, Next Generation Data Mobile, Government and Next Generation Video.

    Through the Government vertical (also named Market Solutions Center), the vision of SES is to become a recognized and respected brand in carefully selected government and institutional markets beyond the US, positioning SES as the preferred provider of global government satellite solutions

    Responsibilities

    This position is exploring new and emerging technologies that could be leveraged to differentiate SES’ offering to global government customers as well as accelerate growth in these markets. The position will provide guidance to SES TechCom from the Government Market Solutions Center perspective to ensure the future direction of the businesses and development of products are in line with our growth path and objectives for government.

    The incumbent will work alongside the Product Management roles in the other Data Mobility  and Data Fixed MSCs to find synergy in the development of joint programs and products to leverage maximum growth potential and will be responsible for EC-level presentations of new concepts and investment opportunities. Additional inorganic opportunities and exploration is also the responsibility of this position, including ongoing  M&A assessments support that enable increased market access, expansion down the value chain and fulfillment of our strategic objective of expanding SES’ role in serving global government customers in the future.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
     

    - Lead the exploration of new SATCOM suite technologies to differentiate SES’ offering for Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, including UAVs, while innovating a product for antenna+modem+BW bundling that enables the aircraft to leverage our MEO (O3b) and future GEO HTS offerings as well as future X and Mil-Ka on the SES fleet

    - Lead the development of the most optimal government ecosystem (satellite/ground/antenna/modem/ tools) based on new technologies

    - Lead the development of a global low cost model for ground and equipment infrastructure able to be rapidly  deployed for global government applications and work with marketing to package, brand and productize the offering

    - Design and propose ways for SES to mitigate the disruptive technologies (eg compression technologies).Ensure solutions for early adoption of HTS technologies in the Government technologies.

    - Work alongside the equivalent Product Manager roles in the other data MSCs to find synergy in the development of joint programs and products to leverage maximum growth potential

    - Provide development requirements to Fleet Development and Technology for the definition of a fleet/teleport/platform strategy for SES’ Government MSC

    - Provide market/customer requirements to help fleet development & technology in the design and modelling of future satellites to include new technologies

    - Lead the cross-functional coordination to develop innovative solutions and implement SES’ new product offerings

    - Apply business expertise, set the direction and manage the entire portfolio development of new SES Government Market Solutions

    - Provide the global government view to support Corporate Development in the identification and evaluation of possible M&A targets. Make the case for both expansion of capabilities down the value chain as well as creating additional market access for international government customers where SES has currently no presence

    - Manage CAPEX and OPEX related to SES’ new Government products and activities

    - Define KPI’s to track existing and future government product performance and strategic fit

    - Provide comprehensive commercial and strategic reports to the MSC leader/ EC on the overall portfolio performance

    - Organize presentations, demonstrations and site visits to inform client prospects of the new SES’ value proposition in Government

    Experience / Qualifications

    - A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field is desired

    - 10+ years’ experience working in the Government Satcom industry will be considered

    - Proven ability to work with government customers to identify their requirements and buy-in process, to design new SES’ products offerings accordingly

    - Solid knowledge of satellite systems engineering with high level understanding of technical impact on operational effectiveness (capacity allocation flexibility, transponder value, fill rate optimization)

    - Deep understanding of global government SATCOM market

    - An extensive network in the Government market

    - Deep understanding of HTS technology

    - The candidate should be knowledgeable on complete implementation of services from initial innovative concepts to financial plans

    - Innovative, passionate and entrepreneurial

    - Strong cross-functional team leadership skills

    - Outstanding written, verbal communication and presentation skills

    - Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

    - Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills

    - Excellent analytical/evaluation skills and understanding of business models, financial analysis, including valuation and detailed P&L
