We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a
MTG Monitoring & Control Subsystem Engineer
You will be based initially for 3 years at our client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities.
Your Tasks Include:
The tasks of the key person will typically include:
Support to the maintenance of MTG Mission Operations Facility requirement specification in the area of Monitoring & Control System and liaison with the operational users for the definition of the requirements baseline.
Follow up the MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem (MCS) procurement to make sure that the delivery fits the intended purpose.
Support the MTG ground segment team, the Mission Operations Facility manager and the ground segment manager.
Interact with suppliers and partner organisations.
Participation to the Reviews for the Monitoring and Control Subsystem and interfacing facilities.
Participation (test conduction and / or witnessing) to MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem facilities testing and related activities on facility as well as on system level.
Analysis of test results and test reports on facility as well as on system level in particular with respect to their suitability for requirement verification and validation.
Track the MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem test results, test reports and requirement verification status.
Installation of the MTG Monitoring and Control Subsystem, while fulfilling the configuration management requirements.
Verification of correct facility installation.
Monitor and, where applicable, steer the lifecycle for all related anomaly reports (ARs) / non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary.
Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings.
Analysis, review and generation of any relevant MTG documentation.
Maintenance (i.e. mainly configuration and installation) of the SCOS 2000 MCS demonstrator installed for familiarisation of the operations preparation team with the Mission Operations Facility MCS.
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience of spacecraft and/or ground segment procurement.
The key person shall have a goal-oriented attitude with a good level of communication skills enabling working in a highly flexible integrated team. Furthermore, the key person shall have, as a pre-requisite a demonstrated experience of five years in the following:
Mission Control Subsystem specifications / development and / or procurement within a space system.
In depth knowledge of MICONYS (SCOS 2000, FARC, PARC, etc.) based Monitoring and Control Subsystems.
The ECSS Packet Utilization (PUS) and CCSDS SLE Standard
TM / TC Database design, implementation and testing (based on DABYS, mysql / MariaDB).
SCOS 2000 based on-board software function.
AIV related activities (test procedure generation, requirements verification and validation).
Anomaly reports (ARs) / non-conformance reports (NCRs) handling, investigation and discussion with clients as well as the supplier.
Eclipse RCP / RAP.
Java, C and C++.
GIT Version Control software.
UNIX operating system usage.
It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have experience with some of the following:
ECSS Space Engineering Standards, in particular those related to Mission Control.
Automation (i.e. procedures activation and execution).
Spacecraft Simulator based on SIMSAT.
Ground segment monitoring & control.
SCOS 2000 based Monitoring and Control Subsystems Maintenance.
Spacecraft routine operations.
Configuration Control software (e.g. Dimensions).
The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language.
