They will correspond to Phase B (Architectural and Preliminary Design), various stages of the Detailed Design –Phase C- of a given programme under definition and development (e.g. Jason-CS), and Phase D (Implementation and Validation), as support to Integration, Verification and Validation in the area of ground segment engineering and architecture.

    The ground segments of EUMETSAT programmes consist of TTC and Payload Data acquisition ground stations, mission management and control systems, data and product processing, monitoring and archiving, data dissemination facilities and the associated network fabric elements supporting data distribution and circulation

    Please send your application to Ms Roxana Sasu at:

    Key Responsibilities:

    The Key person will perform typical system engineering activities of the phase B, C and D in the lifecycle of a system, such as:
    · Requirements engineering - encompassing functional and performance analysis for justification and validation of requisites, requirement allocation, apportionment and refinement of performances, and maintenance of the requirements baseline;
    · Design – defining the conceptual build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics;
    · Technical analyses - which are performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness and justification of the proposed conceptual and physical designs with consideration to the suitability of COTS and reuse of operational components developed in the context of EUMETSAT ground segments;
    · Technical tradeoffs - for assessing dependability, effectiveness, risks, efforts and planning;

    · Planning - for integration and verification, which final objective is to demonstrate that the deliverables conform to the specified requirements.

    More in detail per phase, the Key person shall carry out as a minimum the tasks identified hereafter.

    In support of Phase B:

    Support the refinement, management and maintenance of the GS system requirements in its Ground Segment Requirements Document, including analysis of the system level requirements, requirements tracing and justification;

    Support the refinement and maintenance of the ground segment functional, operational and data model; - Support the definition of the Ground Segment architecture addressing the overall design of the ground segment system and its physical elements, including the GS deployment views, and generation of the associated architectural design documentation;

     Perform analyses (architectural trade-offs, technical budgets, design to cost/effort and risk analyses) to ensure completeness and coherence of the design for all aspects related to system engineering, and contribute to the GS design justification and GS Technical Budgets documents;

    Support to the decomposition of the GS System into procurement/development elements, COTS and reusable components including allocation of requirements and functions from GS system level. Contribution to the element level requirements, especially requirements common to all elements and recommended technologies;
