    Job Description

    We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a

    EPS-SG Overall Ground Segment Integration and Verification Engineer

    You will be based initially for 2 years at our client’s headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities.

    Your Tasks Include:

    The holder of this post supports the Integration and Verification (I&V) activities of the EPS-SG Overall Ground Segment (OGS).

    During the EPS-SG OGS development, the holder of this post will typically be involved in tasks related to the planning, preparation and execution of OGS I&V activities and following up / assessing I&V activities performed as part of the OGS procurements.

    Typical tasks will include:

    Contribute to the production of all OGS I&V documents during Phase C, and their implementation in Phase D;

    Update and maintain the OGS I&V related schedule in coordination with Project Control;

    Coordinate the I&V approach with the System team to ensure coherence and completeness of the EPS-SG OGS and System level approaches;

    Follow and assess the IV&V approach of all contributing elements of the OGS and ensure compatibility with the overall OGS I&V Plan;

    Establish and maintain the verification control mechanisms;

    Ensure accurate metrics on I&V progress are maintained;

    Ensure implementation of the OGS I&V plan through lower level test documentation, processes, test execution and relevant OGS reviews;

    Attend sub segment IV&V tests as observer, witnessing tests where requirements are verified;

    Identify and support the acquisition of all necessary Test Tools and Test Data;

    Support validation activities managed by the EPS-SG System Team;

    Report on a weekly and monthly basis to GS Management.

    These activities will involve interactions with other Client teams, Client partners and industrial contractors. Travel within Europe may have to be undertaken.

     

    Your Profile:

    The key person shall be able to analyse complex situations, identify critical areas and produce accurate and concise analyses and recommendations.

    He/she shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks autonomously, be able to plan his/her work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks and work in a rigorous way to agreed deadlines. He/she shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.

    The key person shall have the following experience, background and skills:

    University degree in engineering (e.g. space or software engineering), or equivalent;

    At least 5 years of general experience in the field of engineering of space and/or ground systems, in the area of Earth observation from space;

    At least 3 years of involvement in the preparation and/or execution of I&V activities at Ground Segment level of such Systems;

    Experience with the preparation of test plans, test specifications and/or test procedures, prepared for I&V of such Systems;

    Experience of multi level verification processes and implementation;

    Familiarity with procurement and use of Test Tools and Test Data;

    Strong interpersonal and team working skills, flexibility, and strengths in analysis and pragmatic judgement are required;

    Good computing skills with strong experience with/ability to use MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, etc.).

    The following would be additional assets:

    Proficiency in using DOORS;

    Knowledge of systems development lifecycle;

    Knowledge of ECSS standards.

    The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore consultants must be fluent and able to work effectively in English, knowledge of French being an advantage.
