Responsibilities: Engages in small satellite and other space systems design and fabrication, specifically in the areas of communications and power subsystems; serves as an Operator of the 21 M Space Tracking Antenna and other Ground Station Equipment; participates and supports integration and testing of small satellite systems; participates in and supports verification and validation activities associated with small satellite systems; develops grant proposals to facilitate research goals established by the Center; teaches courses and laboratories in space systems engineering as needed; mentors undergraduate student research and design projects; and performs other job-related duties.
Qualifications: B.S. in Astronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Space Science, Space Systems, or related discipline and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Astronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline. Experience in research and development in one of these areas is imperative. Extensive experience in space systems development, space mission operations, GSE, operation of test and measurement equipment and antenna verification measurements a must. Experience in the integration, testing and operation of test and measurement equipment is essential, as is experience in the development and assembly of spaceflight systems. Ability to write coherently a must.
Desired Qualifications: Additional qualifications include experience in satellite or other space systems development or satellite mission support. Strong electronics background, and familiarity with software packages for mathematical analysis such as MatLab, Mathcad, Excel, etc. Computer programming skills are desirable. Knowledge of control systems also desirable.
